Good Sunday Morning

Good Morning
I hope my clocks are right :) We have family coming over this afternoon so I will probably be scarce sometime this moning. Other than that, same old crap.

Fonz 2007-03-11 08:57 AM

Morning all,

Have to go to a baby shower (or how do you call it) in a few minutes so I'll probably end up a little tipsy in the head again today.
Lovely weather outside so no complaints here.

Have a great day all!

Cleo 2007-03-11 09:17 AM

My body seems to think it is much earlier then what most of my clocks say.

Isn't technology wonderful… many of my clocks changed themselves. Oh wait, not the old navy windup one on my wall, not the atomic clock in my bedroom that can't get a signal in my bedroom, not the microwave, not the stove, not my car clock, and I'm sure I'll find a few more. Changed most of these but still have a few more to go.

DIrecTV Tivos will stop working today unless they can make a phone call and they are not able to make a phone call through a Vonage phone line. Yesterday I ran a line from the phone line that runs to my backup ADSL so mine is fine but my neighbor, who has three DIrecTV HD Tivos, does not have anything but a Vonage line so none of his Tivos will be working today.

Going up to Palm Beach for a friend's birthday today and not much else planned for the first day of more sunshine this year.

Finally the clock in my car has the correct time! I cant figure out how to change it, and there are no instructions in the manual on how to do it, so for a few months a year I have to remember that the car clock is wrong.

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Have a great day!

Good Morning |waves|

Today is my father's birthday so I'll have to visit my parents today :)

I haven't bought any birthday present yet and I don't have any idea what to buy ... but I'll figure it out :D

My girlfriend's pc is full of viruses again so I'll have to clean that out too :)

Hope you all have a nice day !

I'll be trying to remember how to change mine while driving on I-95 today so if no one ever hears from me again you'll know it was due to DST. Also I may take my atomic clock and stand on my roof with it in order for it to get a signal rather then trying to find the manual and then trying to figure out how to manual change the time on it. |banghead|

Can you hook up the wireless internet adapters to them?

My truck clock is actually has the correct time now :) And my Directv Tivo uses vonage to make the call. I did have to go into setup and remove the 1 before the 800 or 866 call. But, it works.

Nope, DirecTV Tivos have all their external ports disabled including the USB ones.

If that wasn't bad enough the HD Tivos (the real ones not the old ones from DirecTV) are blocked from working with DirecTV HD.

DirecTV is pushing their own DVRs these days and from what I've heard they suck green donkey dicks.

I don't have HD since I don't own a HD TV and since I barely watch TV probably won't bother getting HD anything for sometime but when I do I may switch back to cable so that I can have a real Tivo.

Mine worked last year when I first added all the strings and had it calling a NY number but it stopped working late last year. This week I spent a few hours on the phone with DirecTV trying to get it to work but without success. My neighbor even tried turning on the Vonage fax service on the second port of the Vonage adapter after DirecTV suggesting this but that also did not work.

DirecTV seems to be only willing to push their own DVRs and not really wanting to support the DirecTV Tivos. From what I understand none of the Tivos will work with the new HD mpeg-4 stuff that is coming soon from DirecTV.

Toby 2007-03-11 10:58 AM

Mornin' y'all,

Most of the clocks here reset themselves correctly, I'll go around and change the rest of them over the course of the next few days. One of my neighbors collects antique clocks. He'll reset a few at a time over the next two or three days. Spring is far easier than Fall, as you can only move the time ahead. Reverse on antique clocks can damage the movement. So it's 11 hours ahead for most of his clocks in the Fall, pausing at the chime points to allow them to cycle. Passing multiple chime points without allowing them to cycle can also cause problems.

|coffee is on, help yourself...

Ramster 2007-03-11 11:10 AM

Good Morning.

Just got home from an early basketball game at 9am. Great time to play when the time goes ahead the night before...Not! The wife called from Orlando and said she spent all my money shopping yesterday. This day just keeps getting worse. LOL

Coffee is on at least. ;)

TiVo really fucked up when they released their HD DVR - you have to get a card from your cable company to use it, but that means you loose channels, no PPV and no On Demand. It can't be that hard to run the RGB wires to a TiVo box & bypass the fucking card.

I do record HD channels with my normal TiVo - obviously, they are not in HD when I watch them, but they are widescreen & the picture quality is a little better.

Cleo 2007-03-11 11:37 AM

Personally I think Tivo should be released as a service for DVRs rather then a hardware solution. What Tivo is doing reminds me of what Apple did with their stuff although Apple does seem to be finally recovering from their mistakes.

Mr Exotic 2007-03-11 11:37 AM

Have my first softball practice here in a couple hours, time to find out how bad out of shape I got sitting here all winter on my ass making porn sites :) Usually after the first couple practices of the year I can hardly move for a couple days, last year I pulled my achillees the first practice and couldnt play for almost a month. I just gotta tell myself the mind is willing, but the body aint ready to go 100% just yet.

Gonna be another lazy work day here today, probably gonna come home from practice not being able to move and watch college basketball. Have a good one everybody.

cd34 2007-03-11 11:50 AM

Getting a little work out of the way before a shindig later on. Its a blustery 79F and scattered clouds -- should be a nice one today.

Not that I have the time, but, you could always get MythTV or Freevo.

Also greenie, for your envy/enjoyment

A particular guy's HDTV tivoesque setup

I think the people that usually go to the swap meet, were all driving through Red Rock yesterday at 40 mpg, lol. We had to run into Summerland to get more lattice, plants, L brackets, and bark chips and WOW was there a lot of people driving through Red Rock. The weather was so glorious, I can see why.

I'll be scarce today. Will be painting and hanging 2x6 lumber on my front and back porches so we can then screw in the 2nd lattice panels on the bottoms of the first. Plus planting a bunch of sweet williams I got yesterday. I love sprucing up the yard and house for spring. Have a good one all!

digifan 2007-03-11 01:16 PM

Totally forgot about changing the clocks... it's all the same always anyway for me. From bed to desk and back, kinda boring.

sue-fl 2007-03-11 01:23 PM

Morning!

Well no problems with my clocks they all read the same time. the problem I'm having is with my laptop. It is running sooooo slow.....I'm so annoyed that I'm going to turn it off and go back to bed |banghead|

Enjoy your Sunday all!

And Fonz, guys don't go to baby showers in Canada either, they use that time to hit a bar ;)

Good afternoon world |waves|

I forgot about the time change until someone asked me what time it was earlier. Another too nice day, so I got out of here early and drove over to the Blue Hole, a rainwater-filled old quary pit from back when the first railroads were built here. Nice place for a morning walk, but you have to watch out for alligators and coral snakes. (Remember, "red touching yellow will kill a fellow")

A good Sunday to all.

:)

Still recovering from last night at the local pub. Some college students that I chat with got me into a drinking contest with a female friend of theirs, 12 Southern Comforts for me, and 10 Vodkas for her, they ended up carring her out. Don't mess with the old dude.|virgohippy|

I forgot, their was also 1/2 dozen Irish Car Bombs involved.|thumb
