Can Someone Explain This?

I got a new domain in Oct. 06 and since then have 118 free sites, each with 9 mirrors for a total of 1,062 sites. This tool: http://www.seologs.com/indexed-pages-tool.html says I have 1,920 pages indexed in Google.

Traffic has been:

Nov. 06 32,787
Dec. 06 59,693
Jan. 07 72,566
Feb. 07 109,697
Mar. 07 131,420

Most of this is LL traffic with a little SE thrown in. Awstats says I have
for March, 477 different key phrase searches and 389 keyword searches from SE's.

Most of that time I promoted TCG sites, Fetish Hits for a month, and for the last month Silver Cash. If my traffic is going up so much, why aren't sales??? I don't build the best sites in the world but they're not the worst either. With the traffic increase I would think there would be some increase in sales |confused| I never assumed sales would go up proportionately with traffic but at least a little more. Is there a memo I missed?

Check the time the surfer stayed on a page - you might be surprised :)

I don't think my stats has page time, but the average time/visit is 180 seconds. Highest percentage is 0-30 seconds. 1,300 visits were for over an hour....must have been on Viagra |haha

I've always tried to keep it "short and sweet" so surfers wouldn't get bored by having too much to read but maybe I need to add more actual text vs. sales text. |goodidea

Linkster 2007-04-01 12:24 PM

That was the stats I was talking about - sorry - meant visit duration :)

The only thing I can think of is looking at what your stats are for individual sites within those programs - see if its a particular site eating all the traffic and not converting - also as your traffic went up did your search terms that you are getting hits from get more "general" and less targetted?

Licker4U 2007-04-01 01:48 PM

I can't make heads or tails of it. |confused|

The I would say that most of your traffic is not SE - that boils down to a few SE searches a day - so if the rest of your traffic is from LLs only I would say that you definitely need to look at your sponsors stats and see what sites you are sending the traffic to that is not converting

Makes sense, concentrate on the tours that have the most sales and drop any that don't have any/many sales. Figure out what I seem to be able to sell and work those niches/sites harder. |thumb

Looking at some of your stats(and sponsors that you mentioned), I would say that maybe you are getting traffic, but sending it to to wrong paysites.

Drop me a PM, and maybe I can send you to some sponsors with more targeted sites for the traffic.

I checked and it seems I went back and built a few sites for Extreme Paychecks, Secretaries, Teachers and Panties which accounts for the search terms for those niches. From sponsor stats it seems I can sell Squirting, Panties, Secrataries, Teachers and Lesbians. I guess that would work out since I usually build four-five sites in a seven day week. A niche/day and start over the next week. Now I need a sponsor with all those niches. :D I know, build for these niches with the sponsors I use since those niches are the ones that had sales. |goodidea

CaptainJSparrow 2007-04-02 09:05 PM

Hey Licker4u, are you sure that you're looking and traffic (unique hosts) and not page hits? If you are getting visited by 130k+ folks per day, you should be making at least $1500 per day.

Linkster 2007-04-02 09:25 PM

Capt - I believe that was a monthly total :)

Right Linkster, that looks like monthly totals to me :)

Linkster 2007-04-02 10:09 PM

And with SE/LL traffic like that I would expect $1500-2000 earnings per month for March anyway

Is that "page views" and does it include crawlers? i.e. do you have any idea what the "real" visitor traffic is to each site?

Regardless, with traffic going up you "should" be seeing increased sales. But you should be looking at whether or not the traffic has been going up to the sponsor sites or not. If that's pretty much stayed steady or only slightly increased, then you probably need to adjust your sales text/marketing.

To be frank, out of the sponsors you've listed, I'm not all that surprised as 3 of them haven't been doing all that great for me the last few months. You'd probably be better off trying something that's not as popular or "old", or promote sites that truly deliver the goods on the niches you want to promote..

My bad Linkster...we always look at daily traffic and I just didn't pay close enough attention to his post. |banghead|

I wish. Hell, $500 in a month is a very good month. I can't figure out what's wrong. As I said earlier I'm going to add more text to the pages and see how that goes.

March Uniques: 131,420
# of Vistis: 175,686
Pages: 560,701 (3.19 pages/visit)

Crawlers and bots are not included.

Traffic to each site? Now that would take a while.

It took me a while to understand this one. But there is diminishing returns particularly when you are grabbing traffic from more closed sources (like I used to grab it from internal AVS lists). As the same people see your sponsors over and over again they quit clicking the sponsor banners. Hey, many of them might have already purchased a membership there a month before anyway. And it may not be just you. It could be some of the other guys using your sponsors too and competing for that same traffic. So they are less likely to click the banner or link then, no?

This is where you need to look at UNIQUES (to the sponsor) and compare it to UNIQUES (to your site) and come up with a history and see the pattern. You might find that yeah you are getting more people to your site but they just aren't clicking your links or banners.

It is good if you can to diversify traffic sources. Try to grab some people from places other than where you normally do. Even better if they likely haven't seen your sponsors before. Another way is to change sponsors every once in a while to something which is new to the surfers from that traffic source (where no one else or few use that sponsor).

Also with full blown forums serving up full length movies using places like Rapidshare or Megaupload, it seems a lot harder to get someone to pull out the old credit card. This industry has gotten tougher each year in my opinion. :(

Good luck. And check into Webalizer maybe if you need some better stats?

ronnie 2007-04-05 10:28 PM

I agree with allfetish. Although sponsors have brushed off saturation in the past, it can be very real. If 100's of webmasters are pushing the same site, there's a good chance your surfer might have already seen or even bought from the site. It only makes sense.

And for sure as Viper said, check out your sponsor hits, just do month totals see if they did increase with traffic increase. Least narrow it down.

I can't agree, it's not so easy to make 2k on freesites only nowadays :(

Licker4U 2007-04-06 08:59 AM

From stats at the sponsors I promote Squirting seems to be the best niche for me by far. Got three sales in the last five days so here's the question: Am I going to get in trouble promoting the same site too often? I've surfed a few link lists and see in a few catagories one or two URL's seem to dominate. The sites look very similar which I personally don't like seeing. If all my sites are completely different and no templates used, will that be a problem submitting to the same catagory 3-5 times a week?
