Am I Just Being a Bitch...

All of the link exchange threads are starting to bug the shit out of me. We've got a thread about link exchanges stuck to the top....and a whole forum for link exchange / traffic trades.

Is it too difficult to contact people who have posted in the sticky thread to see if they would be interested in a link exchange?

It just looks tacky to me to have a bunch of threads that are nothing but link exchanges and I think it detracts from the forum.

So, I am I just being a bitch or do others feel the same way?

Fonz 2007-04-05 07:13 PM

You're a bitch :D

No serious, I must admit I'm guilty of starting one of those threads myself a couple of weeks ago. I first posted in the sticky thread first but go no response to that. Then some days later I posted a seperate thread with the same post as in the sticky thread and got 5 trade offers within the first 2 days. I guess people don't go looking for trades in the sticky thread...

Bill 2007-04-05 07:43 PM

I don't mind the trade offers.

Frankly, if it goes into the sticky, I'll never see it.

ronnie 2007-04-05 08:42 PM

Does seem to clutter up the blog section, but like Bill said, how many people would check the sticky thread? I probably would'nt either. Seems to me blog trades should go in the link trade forum?

Actually think I've done it too..|huh

SaucyPanties 2007-04-06 04:13 AM

I can see your point Walrus but I am the same as the others, if I see a sticky thread I tend to get used to seeing it there and I ignore it. The problem might now be that as three of us have said we ignore the sticky threads more who were posting where it should be will now start new threads and make the matter worse...

I think we need to ask if we can have an extra category called blog link exchange? Okay I know we already have a link exchange page but just as blogs are starting to get their own categories in adult directories maybe it is time and there are enough requests to warrant a blog link exchange page?

I was just about to make a post about my trades but now You got me thinking :-)
I've checked sticky just once when I added my first blog there and I always was under the impression that trade requests should go to trade pages ... seams like an obvious thing to do!?

I was thinking almost the same thing. If there is enough interest, we could make a subcategory within the blog forum.

Not a bad idea and one that I personally would prefer over leaving link trades where they are but really is there any reason not to put link trade requests in the link trade forum?

No reason I can think of :) I will get with you in the morning and we can change some things around.

Bill 2007-04-06 05:29 PM

I really don't get why blogroll requests in the blog forum are a source of trouble.

Sorting out blogroll requests from TGP and MGP and small linklist and the rarer real SE link exchanges in the link trade forum seems less efficient to me, not more.

walrus 2007-04-06 11:36 PM

Bill,

Today, your probably right it's not "that big of a deal". But I believe adult blogging is in it's infancy stages, still looking for an identity. I've also seen forums all but over-run with blogroll requests to the point that I quit frequenting them because wading through the crap wasn't worth the nugget or two you could actually find.

Bill 2007-04-07 04:50 AM

I suppose thats possible, I'm not looking that far ahead, but I think we could handle that problem when we reach it.

If you want to move blogroll offers somewhere, I truly think it would be less efficient, not more, to move them to Links and Trades. I'd rather see a seperate blogroll forum.

It's already often clumsy to go over trading offers in Links and Trades, because people aren't clear and consistent in their subject lines, not to mention all the different standards and types of trading.

tigermom 2007-04-07 06:10 AM

I think either a sub-forum, or moving those threads to the traffic forum. It's a matter of a decision than enforcing that with some modding.

Isn't that the truth! Often even the whole post is not clear.

As mentioned, I would rather see a separate forum for blog trades.

T Pat 2007-04-07 12:11 PM

I like the idea of one link exchange thread.
What I think really sucks is that the thread isn't updated. I have looked at every post in the thread there are lots of Blogs that 404 or haven't had a new post in months
If you were to start a fresh link exchange thread every month or two I think it would be better

Jim 2007-04-09 01:27 PM

I like that idea Pat. We are going to make the changes.

Useless 2007-04-09 05:28 PM

Since I live to state my opinion, I'll weigh in, even though I don't really have a production blog. I think the one thread idea has always been shit. A catastrophe. A total mess. A waste of time to wade through. :D

I would have voted for a link trade subforum or move all of the link trades to the board's main link trade forum. (It's not as if link lists or TGPs have their own separate link trade forum.) Link trade threads do clutter the the blog forum, but a single thread becomes a confused mess and is probably far less productive for gaining trades.

Sad to say I've never even looked in the sticky thread -- I just totally edit those out mentally; like the google adwords and banner ads. It's like they aren't there. Most sticky posts in adult forums are sponsor announcements so I just ignore them without thinking.
