Booble
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&lr...472308,00.html
Very effective use of a press release. http://www.booble.com is a rip off of Google, same looking logo, very similar results page... It's had a run in 3 Australian newspapers, also Sth Africa, NZ and India. That's one hell of a way to get your name out there. Not sure how long it will be before Google goes after them |
The site loaded fine for me yesterday, but today it's like watching grass grow :(

I think that Booble's publicist's ability far outweighs their server's ability.

Well there is 24 letters of the alphabet left |jester|

Other than that, it is slow as a dog for me, and some fo the graphics don't always load up. Alex |
Yep, very slow now. These guys obviously didn't think things through properly.
I just found it interesting that they went for a standard pr marketing strategy, and that it obviously worked. It may not have got into any US papers, but even so it got the word out in four countries. The standard theory is that advertising in print is a bad idea because people need to remember your URL, go all the way to the computer, get out the credit card etc etc. In this case they had an easy-to-remember URL because it was a rip off. I'm wondering how they will turn this into a success, especially if lawyers become involved. The other thing was the guy who runs it managed to stay anonymous in the article, which is one of the concerns about marketing in the "real world". |
