How long should you wait to be listed after submitting?
I've submitted to several list over the last couple of weeks. Some are kind enough to send an accept/reject email (I wish everyone communicated like Green dude)...
I manually checked some of the sites, and many have listed me, but many have not. I still have the recip on my sites....so when should I take the recip off and try submit elsewhere? I know these folks get backed up reviewing the submissions...what's a reasonable amount of time. My concern is that I remove the recip, and then they list me and I'm the bad guy. |
Personally, I just submit and leave it. After about a month or 2, check your stats and see who's sending you traffic and alter your recips for your new sites to match.
But thats just what I do, I havn't been doing it long myself |
There are a few link lists that are way behind with reviews, and I mean over a year behind.
One example is FetishPhiles. I still submit there regularly even though I've never been listed. Over a hundred freesites with a recip on each one. A while back I PM'd the owner here and asked if there was a problem. He explained that he is way behind with reviews, so hopefully at some point I'll start to see those old freesites get a new boost. Actually, it's been a while since that last PM. |huh Best thing to do is to ask here if reviews are behind on a particular link list, and then maybe PM the owner/reviewer to ask if all is okay. If you post the link list names somebody should be able to tell you if they won't be listing you - I've had to drop several over the last six months once it was confirmed here that they no longer function as a "proper" link list. I wouldn't take the recip off at all unless you know for sure that you haven't been listed - and won't be listed in the future. In my opinion it's just not worth the trouble to go back and edit unless you have a particular gripe with that link list owner. Damn that was longer than I expected. |
Submit and forget. Some LL will review your sites many months from now. After it's built, just forget and check your stats and adjust recips for future sites.
|
Thanks!!!

I agree with Porn Junkie and Howling Wolf, submit, if it's not listed in a month with no notice as to why not, forget 'em. IMO if someone is a year or even two months behind on submissions they're just not serious about this business.
When I try out new lists I give them a week. If I'm doing something an LL doesn't like I'm not going to wait months to find out what it is |huh That said, I don't bother changing recips if I'm not listed, I just build another one and replace that LL on my recip tables. |

I was posting to a regular bunch of sites and 2 large ones in particular never responded or posted any of my links. I won't name them, but I decided that it was wasting traffic that could be coming from other sites that list more quickly.
To this day I still havn't received anything from them so imo its no big loss. ...I hope |

Debauchery and freepicssex are two examples of link lists that were/are very behind with reviews but they've been listing my recent freesites. I would have dropped them but after using GG&J to make enquiries I felt happy to continue - and it was definately the right decision, in my opinion. Not knowing why you're not getting listed is a huge pain in the ass and feels very unfair to an honest freesite builder. |banghead| |
What Sheepguy said. Also, some LLs have a feature where you have to check off that you want to receive accept/decline notifications (hint-hint).
|
I agree with Sheepguy - if they don't list you in a reasonable period then delete them from your submit list. They are getting the benefit of a link for months and months before listing you - doesn't seem fair to me.
What would be of benefit to submitters as well would be a dead link lists thread where a listing of all non-functioning LL could be maintained. Any thoughts? |

If I get feedback from a member here, or a link list owner, telling me that someone is behind with reviews then surely the traffic that will eventually be sent makes it worthwhile to wait it out. How much of a benefit to link lists are freesite recip links? I can't see that much traffic would be sent from a recip table, and then there's the back links value and all that. But I think the value of our recip links on freesites is shrinking all the time, if I understand some of the PR related threads here that I've been reading. I also think that it won't be long before recip tables are gone, dropped forever. I have no idea what will come next. Maybe just trusted regular submitters....I'm drifting off topic, sorry. Maybe it also depends on how many recips you use. One table of 9-20 recips means every space is precious. Up nearer 100 link lists with a few mirrors and each recip link looks less important. Quote:

Triple XXX world has a nice little status area where you can see the sites you submitted, and the status. No reason is given for being denied, still you at least know where you stand. It requires a registration (done instantly). Would love to see more of that kind of thing.

submit and keep your eye on your traffic stats, if you notice you dont get listed at some linksites, ask the boards or email them, if no answer, yeah then you have the right to remove their link and replace it for an other linksite who will list you
|
It might also help to post examples of your sites, people on the board might point out problems that could keep you from getting listed.
A few things I don't think submitters realize. For all the decline type e-mails sent, very few seem to get read or even received, VERY few. 99% of the time, they seemed to get ignored and the submitter just keeps submitting the same problems over and over. On some occasions, when a Decline is sent out and actually read, the submitter goes off on the LL owner, pissed they were not added, or some other dumb reason. Also the time factor. If a LL gets many submits and/or runs more than one site (who does'nt nowdays, you almost have to), if a LL owner replies to every submit, how much time that could add, time that most LL owners don't have in the first place. Of course this is not all fair for the submitter, but a few things to think about. As said, you could always try contacting the LL owner to find out for sure. Surprising how very few people do. |
