Server transference problem
 

Today I got a email from the server im hosted in, they said Im using too much transference than the one I was supossed to.

Currently I have a main website with links, and I also send 1 freesite per day. Right now I am using 130 G in a month (I was suppose to use no more than 5!) so it means I have to change of server plan.

I asked some webmasters w/ more experience than me about my problem and they told me I could be hotlinked and another one said videos usualy eat all the tranference. I usually send freesites with movies so maybe it could be true.

What do you know about this? How can I reduce my transference? I need some help coz I have to change from server plan but I can't spend too much money in it yet. Thanks.

well, if you're using 125 gigs more than your plan, I'm sure you're spending lots more than you would with a larger plan anyway :D

130g/month isn't bad subbing 1 movie freesite a day, depending on how many you already have out there. A virtual plan from Webair with 350 gigs is only $20/month. I don't use that much yet with movie freesites, although I don't do one a day.

just take a look at some of the hosts people use here and see what plans they have - Webair & Colo-Cation are the ones that come to mind first.

i would be more worried about the linksites i submitted my free sites too, movies take alot of gigs,and if i was you i would check where you get listed with your sites, because yeah i have seen your free sites alot and you didnt get listed at the sites i review, again an notice , check the rules and be sure if you make a free site if you are by the rules and get listed. saves you alot of time and waisted bandwidth

Hey anne. Do you only have the site listed in your profile? If so I'd be kind of surprised if you are really going through 130G a month. It is possible, but again I doubt it.

Be careful. Sometimes hosts get desperate and they will try to "shake you down" (get more money from you). I had one try this on me by telling me I needed to upgrade my plan when I experienced some lag issues. I knew better -- that what they were saying was BS and that the issue was soemthing else other than the pipe. I get the sense that a lot of people would not though. So do be careful.

I would look at your logs and see what is going on. For example Webalizer (a stat program) will show you a good estimate of usage. It will also show you which files are using the most bandwidth and who is referring them. Try to get one of your good webmaster friends to check over your stats to see what is up first. Or if they can't help PM me and I'll try. :)

Id be more than interested in finding out the reason some LL don't accept my FS. My sites always get accepted by the big LL thats why I assumed I was doing good sites, but if its not like that Id like to know what im doing wrong so I can fix it.

It's been awhile since I've seen any of your sites but if my memory is working today you do build very nice looking sites. I think your problem was with the actual site structure.

domain.com/foldername/gallery1.html
domain.com/foldername/gallery2.html

Try putting all your pages in one folder and I'm sure you will get listed at more link lists.

Are you compressing your movies before uploading them? Straight from a sponsor or vendor they can be quite large.
