Fake TGP galleries

I've been lurking around trying to pick up a few ideas...

The "fake" tgp gallery is interesting. Do you get blacklisted for that, or is that one of those little cheats that does not get noticed? Also, assuming you can get away with it, does it actually generate sales for you, or are you mainly just saving bandwidth?

The fake tgp is something most of us have but will never admit, like our redheaded stepsons. The fake tgp gallery is something I don't think will work with most tgp's. We really look at what we post and if it is sponsor hosted we can do it ourselves.

That's what I was thinking...what about freesites? I don't want to break rules, but people sometimes have a way of bending them to get an advantage, if you know what I mean.

The Linklist owners are even more critical about what they slide through.

What's the big deal with hosted galleries? I'm a newbie, but I'm not seeing why it would matter if the pics were on my server or my sponsor's server. Either way, surfers get nice pics to look at, which hopefully will convert into a sale. What am I missing?

Lemmy 2007-06-01 06:41 PM

Luscious, it seems to me you're too concerned with "bending the rules" and looking for and easy way to do things. Forget about sponsor hosted stuff, it's not meant for submission. Period.

I am indeed looking for easier ways to do things, but not at the expense of breaking rules. I mainly want to gain understanding and see what other experienced webmasters are doing.

secretagentwilly 2007-06-02 12:29 AM

What is meant for submission? I myself am a newbie/rookie and I'm trying to figure out this submission thing. I am only an affiliate and I don't produce any content. So if free hosted galleries aren't meant to be submitted, what are they for? Do I need to make my own original galleries with my affiliate code in them and submit them? Is chameleon submitter meant to be for original galleries only? Does this mean I need to get my photoshop skills inline to make my own galleries?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

I have a link list and I list free hosted sites, but only if they have my sponsor codes on every ad ;)
I also submit free sites and galleries, but I either use my own content, or download content from a sponsor and use theirs, either way, the design is mine and the bandwidth is mine.
Why would I, as link list or TGP owner, list a free hosted site or gallery designed by the sponsor, with someone else's sponsor code, when I could easily just have my own code in there |huh
And as a submitter, why would I expect anyone else to list a free hosted site with my code, and not their's?
This business requires some work, and the rules are there for solid economic reasons.

If you wanna make money off FHG and HFS set up a fake TGP/LL and list them and route some traffic to it.

Luscious, you're not paying attention to the advice given. The "no sponsor hosted stuff" applies EVEN IF YOU RIP OFF THE GALLERY AND HOST IT YOURSELF! http://lusciousdelights.com/ebony/

There are NO SHORTCUTS. You have to do the work YOURSELF!

Well, the sponsor said it was fine, so I don't see how I ripped them off. I inquired and they said as long as I promoted them, it was cool.

If it's a violation of the list owner's rules, I did not know that.

Just so I know, what about that site is sponsor hosted stuff and how can you tell? Are you not allowed to use the pictures from sponsored hosted galleries? If I want to make my own, do I need to download the video and get screenshots and make my galleries with that content? Please advise. I don't want to piss anyone off.... =)

Most sponsors have free content to use. They are basically zipped picture or movie sets. Get that content and make your own designs.

Making the sites yourself is not only great for helping you learn building websites, but it allows you to develop your own style in this industry which people will know you from.

As for FHG's, I started a post about that earlier. What I got out of it was their good for filling up your own TGP or LL. Thats it.

Lemmy 2007-06-07 11:08 PM

The site that Luscious submitted is a dead giveaway. The very amateurish (no offence) index and main pages followed by typical professional sponsor-made gallery pages. If I wanted those galleries on my LL I'd just grab them from the sponsor myself, hosted or not.

I don't care where people get their content from. There's certainly plenty to be had for free from sponsors. Use it or buy your own, I don't care as long as it meets quality standards.

One thing is non-negotiable though: you MUST build your own shit. The whole point behind a LL accepting submissions is to fill it up with unique sites that keep the surfer interested and coming back for more.

SheepGuy 2007-06-08 12:44 AM

Agreed |thumb
Most sponsors have crap freesites anyways, which is why most LL owners don't use a lot of them.
Learn how to build your own, there are plenty of people here who will help.

One thing I that I have not seen mentioned on the topic of using just the images from the sponsor hosted galleries is the license. Some of the content on sponsor hosted sites is licensed for the SPONSOR ONLY with no provisions for affiliates to use it. Therefore you are not legally able to use it.

For the record, I re-did the ebony gallery pages. I did use content from Pussy cash, with their express permission, but did my own design. As far as amateurish, well, you get better with time, eh? And I've got some postive comments, but I appreciate the input. I think the sites I'm doing now are much better than the first ones I did...live, learn and improve.

Hey here's a question for all the professionals out there...why only TWO galleries on the free sites...why not 60 or 3 or 1000? Am I missing something?

I do see 3 gallery freesites, very occasionally 4, but why give away the farm? The idea is to tease the surfer into buying a membership, not to let him get off on your freesite ;)

secretagentwilly 2007-06-08 03:10 PM

very good point...i'm not captain obvious... =)
