Good Finally Saturday Morning

Good Morning
Another hot day in front of us. Yesterday was spent at an ear, nose and throat doctor. Today, I have to find a chicken Barbeque someplace. :) Besides that, it's a regular work Saturday.

Toby 2007-06-02 07:55 AM

Mornin' y'all,

|coffee is on, help yourself...

p.s. who's turn is it to bring the donuts?

Cleo 2007-06-02 08:32 AM

Stormy Saturday...
We had storms from hell starting yesterday afternoon that made last night very interesting. Things should improve today but getting a named storm on the first day of hurricane season is a bit ominous. Just to be on the safe side we filled up the generator fuel reserve and our cars yesterday.

Ordering a spare satellite dish today in case mine gets blown off the roof in the next storm.

Just a day of work planned for this wet day.

Ugh, the humidity is brutal this morning! Going to go sweat like crazy during morning tennis, then off to a barbecue this afternoon. Enjoy your day everyone. |waves|

Just like Jim we have a hot day in front of us. Docholly would probably disagree since she lives in the desert but we call this thing hot :)

Anyways, have a good one all!

Wow, we finally got rain. June 2 set rain records here:

At Melbourne International Airport through 9 a.m., 5.24 inches of rain has fallen. This washes away the previous record for this date of 1.30 inches set in 1960.

This also sets a daily maximum for the month. The previous wettest day in June was 5.00 inches on June 23 1984.

More rain is expected today and these records will continue to swell.

Our pool is literally full to the edges; the wind gust spills it over every so often. We so desperately needed this rain too, it was bone dry here.

I also got to test my new UPS last night when we lost power for an hour, worked great but it was odd still being online when the rest of the house was dark. I had 10 mins to shut down all my desktops and go to my wireless card and laptop.

Here is to a wet and wild June!

MMM *dreaming* of Fonz, shirtless hot and sweaty mowing the lawn.

101 today, overcast (keeps the smog in the city) and 20mph hot winds. But I can still say .. "its a dry heat"

Good Morning!

Sunny, hot, and humid on the Golden Gulf Coast.
Seafood Festival continues today in Pass Christian. Going to eat a few tons of shrimp , oysters, crawfish, gumbo, crab, and other delicacies from the Gulf and drink a little beer while listening to some good ol cajun music.
Tomorrow is Blessing of the fleet in Biloxi followed by more Seafood in the Pass... goddamn it's good to be in Dixie!

Have a Southern Day!

P.S, Cleo there is a question i always wanted to ask to a person who lives in a hurricane area, why the hell you still wanna live there? Not joking here, i only see the programs and all on the telly when hurricanes strike, but dont you live in fear and all, why do you stay there?

No earthquakes, no mud slides, no fire storms, no snow. Year around almost naked bodies on the beach. No need for winter anything other then a light sweater for a few days in winter. I live in tank tops, jeans or cargo pants, and sandals year around. |thumb

I lived here for over thirty years before even experiencing a hurricane and hopefully those few years of storms will not become the norm.

Really hurricanes aren't that bad now that I've learned how to be prepared for them and we get days of notice before they hit.

ah i see one answer of you which i also see on telly, you live already there for thirty years, i saw alot of other people saying the same on telly, thats very cool, i only know tornedos and hurricanes from telly, we dont have that stuff in holland, so its very diffecult to understand for me why people stay in an tornado or hurciane area while their whole house and all is ruined when a hurricane strikes.:)

stuveltje 2007-06-02 05:51 PM

oh cleo just one question again, on the telly people say a hurricane or an tornado sound like a train comming, i know maybe stupid question but i wanna know, is it like the sound of a train driving around? why those questions pretty simple, we dont have hurrcanes, or tornados, or earthquuakas and all, geeze i life in a simple country and we dutchies freak out already with a hard storm, i only get my info from telly and those huricanes and tornados have my intrest, because yeah i am scared like shit for storms but when i look at the telly then i dont know what a real storm is

for sure the tornados do.. I haven't been in a hurricane in 10 years so I don't remember but I've been thru a few tornado days in AL, GA and driving thru both AR and KY (not jelly) .. I do believe I'll take hurricanes and hot desert sand over tornados, thank you beary much

Oh and I'm not, for the record, Cleo..she's the skinny young one..

desert sand ., hell i dont know anything about that, well i do , again i find out thru telly, and cleo a skinny young one, lol cleo is for me a very tough lady who knows what she want, i have huge respect for her and she say all she wants ( i like people who just say all they wanna say,), but still i dont know if an hurricane realy sounds as a train sound:)

Cleo 2007-06-02 07:07 PM

When the wind really gets going they do sound like a train passing by.

Tornados are usually much worse then hurricanes and you don't get any warning with them. We get small ones here once in awhile but they are pretty rare and nothing like the big huge ones that the midwest US gets.

Having been through one in Ohio when I was a kid, at my grandmothers house which was next to a railroad line, I can say that they are very similar sounds. Winds are 160+ mph, debris flying around, and the little spaces around windows and doors howling and whistling and the low rumble in the background shaking the entire house. Quite memorable, and I believe that tornado was classified as an F3.

My uncle lives in LA -- says that he prefers having an earthquake where there is no warning, as opposed to a week worth of 24x7 TV coverage showcasing a storm that doesn't quite meet the expectations of the weatherman. I can remember two potential storms last year and the weeklong buildup beforehand -- for both to skirt the coast and not even make landfall. The bad part is that people may become complacent and not prepare due to the continual 'boy who cried wolf' syndrome.

Hopefully, we'll have another light season.
