I deleted all my cookies, temporary internet files, history, etc so now I have to enter my username / password everywhere I go that requires them. (I had the box clicked to "save password") It's been years since I came up with the password for ICQ and I've forgotten it so I tried to retrieve it. They asked what my favorite restaurant is and if that isn't my question to click a link where I put in my e-mail address. THEY SAID THEY CAN'T SEND ME MY PASSWORD! WTF??? That's |bullshit| ICQ....|2up

yea sucks that there really isn't a way to get your icq. I had forgotten mine for awhile. Lucky that after a day or two and trying a bunch of different things I finally remembered it. Had a bunch of people on my list that I had no other way of getting in contact with. Made sure to write that one down actually.

Did they say why they can't send it to you? Maybe you used an old email address to signup?

Man, I totally feel you. I got my account hacked by some fuckers who sell short uin's on ebay and they changed everything so I couldn't get my pass back. Luckily I was using trillian and I got my logs saved so I could see who was who and what UINs they had, but if you lost all your list that would hurt worst.

Just try to recover it with old email addresses you used to own... I wish you best of luck

I kicked ICQ to the curb when it fucked up my box.

I haven't let ICQ load on my system in a while. I keep the program on my drive only because so many use it, but I rarely use it myself.

I don't know why, but just by allowing ICQ to run in the background it wants to use +90% of my processing power. For something which is supposed to be small, that worries me. |sad|

U know the sad thing part is I would've bought mine back if given the chance. Probably at a lot higher price then $10, but these guys are lousy businessman. They didn't even shoot me over an email so I can make an offer.

Only the hassle of having to go trough all the contacts and explain to everybody who I was again would've been worth it, not to mention I had that UIN since for ever. I even had my phone number personalized to match it :)

I absoulutely hate ICQ, won't use it. Too many distractions already.

Only reason I use it is to contact sponsor reps. I have AIM which most sponsor sign up sheets have a field for but they ususlly only post ICQ #'s for their reps. What a quandary... |huh

You have to remember, the types that do this kind of thing are usually loner types, confined to a PC in a bedroom most of the time as going outside in the real world holds many bad experiences of abuse.

I'll tell you what, if nobody would buy 'em, they'd have no reason to steal 'em. Sad thing is some people choose not to belive they're actually stolen. I guess they were all registered by alice in wonderland at just the right time for these guys to add to their collection. And since you can get a shiny 1337 UIN for less then half a signup...

To be perfectly honest I'm happy with my "new" 4 yo 9 digits number. Feels safer somehow :)

and that is pretty much the only reason I have ICQ as well, so affiliates and vendors can contact me with information and problems. I hated it for a long time. Then my boss sent me to qip.ru and I got that program and it solved a lot of my ICQ related problems like dropped messages and getting disconnected often.
