Movie gallery submitters inside pls

I know there are some great movie gallery makers here, I need your help with some movies for my paysite:

-which program do you use to encode the clips?
-do you prefer .wmv or .mpg?
-how large do you make your clips?
-in which format do you export them? fixed bitrate? which resolution?

Help appreciated

Thnx

Hello OlderWomanFun,

I've been doing movie galleries for years, so here's my take:

1) Clips should never be encoded. For slicing and dicing the clips, I use Video Edit Magic

2) I prefer .wmv since they are more compact than .mpg for the same running time. But I should warn you that .mpg files are more universally accepted by TGP/MGP webmasters.

3) My galleries have 4 vids and a running time of about 18 sec per vid. You need to find a common dominator since some webmasters want atleast 3 vids or minimum of 1.5 MB file size or 20 sec running time.

4) 320x240 resolution

How do you make the thumbs of the clips?

Your first option is to do a screen capture thru the video editing software (Most all of them have this feature), although this is discouraged as TGP/MGP webmasters dislike this.

Your second option is to use an associated hi rez picture that represents the actual clip. Most sponsors have these pics.

Good Luck

I use a little freeware program that lets you step through MPGs frame-by-frame to select the best image.
