Kind Of Fucked?
 

Hi,
I started what I thought would be a small fetish clip sharing site. Anyway 12 days later I'm getting over 100,000 PI's a day. The site is out of control...

I moved my plan from shared to unmetered to semi-dedicated in this time. Now the software is getting glitchy. It'll play anything uploaded prior to today but anything from today seems to be uploading to a different folder without converting it to flv format.

Anyway I think the people I'm hosting with are lost and so am I. The site is free for now and I'm not a millionaire...What am I looking at here in $$

What are you looking for? What's the site? You need advice on the hosting or looking to sell it?

I'm swinging towards the majority on these sites as i've read in so many places that although the sites get high traffic, they convert very little on ad's.
Why not convert the site into a link list type of site with sponsored movie/pic galleries.

The good news is I started a unique little project less than a month ago and traffic is out of control...80 to 100,000 PI's a day and around 15,000 uniques. |headbang|

The bad news is I have no idea how to make $$ with it. I have a few affiliate links on there and have made a whole $14.99. |confused|

What can I do with this traffic to earn better money?

P.S. I also just found out that the the fucking semi-dedicated server I'm on is already blown out and I'm gonna have to get a $300.00 a month dedicated! So now my free little site is costing me $$. WTF?

It's going to be tough, especially since you didn't take your hosting costs into account.

Video hosting is something of a specialty service - it sounds like you are hosting all the video, so you have to be damn sure that you are renting a server from a company that rents to video people - but such companies expect you to buy large chunks of bandwidth.

The only way I would think a project like that could work would be to use it as a "loss leader" - figure out multiple ways to funnel traffic off the free vids into pages where you can sell, sell, sell.

Doing the video thing costs too much for the bandwidth, etc.. Just convert the thing into a hub..and make some damn money.
