62 freesites submitted, very little SE traffic.

I've submitted a total of 62 freesites over the last 3 1/2 months, and I've yet to get any real SE traffic. I only recieved 700 hits out of 52,000 last month from SE's. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I've missed? Also, the sponsors I'm using are all showing around 1cent/click. Some even worse! I've linked to some of my sites to see if anyone could point out the error of my ways :D

And one of my older ones:

Any help would be greatly appreciated |loony|

That's pretty much how it works much of the time these days.

I'm sure you could improve your SE traffic, but it's much more difficult to get SE traffic to an ordinary freesite now.

There's no doubt you could slightly improve traffic with more text, especially more misspellings and unusual keyword phrases.

And by getting some extra supporting links to your sites - which ain't easy.

You'll get faster results, sales wise, by improving your selling, which is way too passive on the site I checked.

Thanks for the reply! I'll work on my sales text and try to come up with some strange keywords :D

Interesting...for more aggresive selling, are avs sites any better? I've been doing freesites as well, but I wonder if you can get more bang for the buck out of avs sites...There are fewer places to submit for sure, but, maybe give it a shot?

Well, agressive selling isn't necessarily the opposite of passive selling, altho agressive selling defineitely has it's place.

As for avs's, that depends on the AVS - some let you be more agressive, some don't. AVS is a moderately complex game, and it's changed a lot over the years.

But what I was talking about was _active selling_ as opposed to passive selling. That means really thinking about your sales text, understanding your niche, using the trigger words of your niche effectively, and clearly getting your sales message projected into the mind of the surfer.

You don't want the surfer to see your sales positions and think, "Right, another fucking lameass advertisement...".

You want your sales text and sales positions to be the most interesting things on your pages. And you want to be clear that the real juice is to be found by clicking your sales link.

In addition to Bill's advice keep in mind that 3-4 months is not enough to judge how a site will do in the search engines. I've had some take 2 years before I had favorable results.

You should research basic seo a little more also. I noticed one of your sites, the best seo work was on the main page. Grab em by the balls right on the index page. Both the surfer and the bots. ;)

Completely off topic, but with your 62 freesites you only got 52k hits? I only have around 10 or 11 freesites and recieve more than that in a fairly unpopular niche.

I noticed that i got almost no se traffic to my sites, then after about 6 months of starting the domain i started getting over 100 hits from google a day to a couple pages. A couple quality links is what i believe made all the difference. That and waiting a few months for the site to mature a little.

I'm pretty aggressive with most of my sites, or maybe the better word is assertive ;) One thing I learned a long time ago in face-to-face sales is to ask for the sale as many times as you possibly can. On slow days I've stood in front of customers cars and not allowed them to leave the parking lot until I was finished talking to them ;) Some people didn't like me much, but it was business, and you only get one chance with a customer or a surfer.
I'm probably more assertive with AVS sites, and I make more money with them than I do with free sites, but I just started doing free sites again less than a year ago, and both models work for me.
Get a guy with half a hardon, a smile on his face, his credit card handy, and ask for the sale. And ask again, and again and again.

Thanks! I didn't know you listed avs..I want to build a few and see how it works. I'm getting some good traffic from my listings, but conversions are sucking ass. I guess it just takes a little time to get the hang of things, but your advice on selling sounds dead on, and I need to move in that direction! I have seen advice that text links actually work better than banners...perhaps I should go more in that direction...(?)

Check the url in my sig, you've been there before ;) There's a list of a whack of LL's that take AVS sites. You get less hits to an AVS, but I find they convert as well or better than my best sponsors, and premium AVS sites retain a lot longer than paysites.
