Over compressed pictures

I've had a couple of sites rejected lately (that happens|cry|). The reason for this was over compressed pics. I used a free graphics program to resize the pictures, could the settings in this program be causing the problem or did I just try to make the images to big?|banghead|

Oh yea, here is one of the gallery pages.

File size seems to be quite big for the pic size. 750x500, 197,294 bytes. That could easily be optimized to under 80kb. What are you using to resize the images?

I don't see how you could be rejected for over compressed pics. In my opinion they're too large. My images in the size you have generaly run 40-50 KB. Some of yours are over 225KB. If someone did reject you for over compressed pics, then need to explain their reasoning to me.

Thanks for the heads up|thumb, I checked with my hosting service and it seems that the service was down for a while. They have assured me that the problem has been solved, I hope so.

The graphics program that I'm using is an old one, it's called graphics assist, it's supposed to create thumbnails and resize pics. It does create thumbnails but I guess it doesn't work to good for pics, it's time to upgrade. Anybody have any suggestions? I can't afford a high dollar graphics program.

Are you attempting to improve the quality of those vid caps and that's what's making them so heavy, even though their dimensions aren't that grand? You'd be better served by asking the sponsor for better content.

Thanks guys for all your input. |thumb I think I've figured out my problem. The graphics program was set to save the image to maximum jpeg which makes the file size extremely large. Just setting it to high improves the file sixe immensely|goodidea
