Resssesss Quessstion
Do you ever worry about some lowly bastard taking your RSS feed and basically duping your site's content with it? Or is Google smart enough to look at the feed's originating source, which is coded into the feed, and realize that it's merely someone pulling your feed and therefore the content should not be the basis of any SE love for the site?
|
I don't worry about it. If someone wants to use my feed, as long as they don't change my ref codes, they are welcome to it.
I watch my stats pretty much like anyone else would for any unusual activity but other than that, I don't give it much thought. |
I believe that G look at it as a + to the feed source (in this case Your site). It's not considered as duplicated content (I know we can argue about it :D) or stuff like that but as popularity of Your content (something like backup links). If it wasn't like that all sponsor feeds would be fucked up and looking at few of my blogs that uses only RSS from sponsors for almost a year now they'd be fucked too. Instead traffic numbers go up.

I agree with Walrus. More traffic and link backs..:)

That having been said, I don't believe the big G or any of the other brethern can tell the origin of a feed since it is processed server side. Therefore he who is the most trustworthy and relevant in big G's eyes wins out. Now the question is....how bad do you think the dupe content penalty is. |
