Colo-Cation hosts all of my stuff and I'm very happy with them.

I've never heard anything but great things about colo-cation or webair. I use cyberwurx and really like them.

I've recently moved to National Net, via Luke and chilihost and I cannot believe the level of service provided by them.

The tech support guys are always polite on the phone, they respond to the online help desk queries usually within a couple of minutes and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.

Hey all!

Mark Memmer of Caro.net or chilihost, perhaps you have an answer
to a question I've had for some time. A couple of year ago my blog
was shut down do to "system overload." My host claimed that
I was using too many system resources. I have since re-opened
my blog on a free adult blog host. My question is, what was
causing the system overload? I know I had a lot of traffic, but
what is the average limit to system resources that one can use?
What is it that is being measured? How can one monitor this?
I have asked several hosts this question and no one seems to
know how to answer me. This is why I went with the free host.

As to a good host fannyeah, I have other sites on WebAir
and they have been very good to me.

Fmonster, it sounds like you were on a dreamhost account or something similar??? they throttle cpu usage and their TOS specify they can shut you down for using too much resource.....heaven forbid you actually use the service they are supposed to be providing to you ;)

A quality host will work with you to ensure you are running your scripts optimally and to upgrade your hardware when it comes time that you need to upgrade. FYI, I have quite a few clients that run multiple blogs (including me) and have no server load issues at all.

Luke's gotten you taken care of with the answers. The couple of things that I would suggest are:

1. Choosing a host familiar with the adult industry
2. a host that can grow with you from shared to dedicated, if thye have somewhere to migrate you too after you outgrow the shared resources it is doubtful that they will want to slay the goose laying the golden eggs and shut you down before offering you an upgrade.
