SE's and Ad Rotator
If I use an ad rotator on the index page of my link list, each time the page is refreshed or visited the text on the page changes. How do SE's look at this? I don't know how often the bot's spider the page but will it hurt me or will they just stay confused?

I guess it depends on what add rotator you're using. I'm using phpAdsNew on some pages with a remote javascript call. I don't think Google can even see it. I ran a spider simulator on the page and it didn't show up.
I would think that if you're using something that the bots can see, and you have enough ads in rotation then it would look like fresh content, but I don't know that for sure. |
Licker, if the same text is repeating over and over again, just shuffling out on refresh... Then I would not think it would be looked at as fresh content, but I also am not sure. My theory is that Google can tell the difference between rotating text and real fresh content.

They seemed to like something I tried awhile back.
I had an iFrame with a series of linked pages that meta-refreshed every 5-10 secs. in a loop. So if the surfers stayed on the page for a bit, different ads would show. Maybe the bot was following the link in the meta tag. |
