free site URL question

So here's a real noob question for you free site pros / LL owners:

A lot of free sites are built by affiliates, so you expect to see them on a different domain than the pay site that is being promoted – but what about pay site owners submitting free sites promoting their own pay sites?

For example, you have a pay site, www.examplepaysite.com

With a free site at www.examplepaysite.com/free/

Do you have a problem listing a site like that? Why / Why not?

TIA

Can you get away with it? Probably, but it's bad form.

I'd just scoop up the domain www.examplepaysitesites.com/ or something and create all the freesites/galleries you want on that domain and just point them to your paysite minus the affiliate code if you want. |thumb

I'm listing a few people promoting their paysites with freesites now, but they use different domains for their freesites, and their freesites are top notch. Why not just grab a different domain for that? Would solve any perception problems on the part of LL owners, TGP owners as well.

Thanks for the replies, guys :)

You've given me some ideas |thumb

a follow up

I have a feeder domain with a small, very clean TGP @ /tgp/

any problems with incorporating a free site so that users hitting the main page see links for:

GALLERY 1 | GALLERY 2 | GALLERY 3 | MORE GALLERIES

the "more galleries" link pointing to the TGP

"MORE GALLERIES" will come across as a blind link for many out there. It does not go to a gallery but to a page listing galleries so it needs to be described as such.

Best way to combat this is to make it "MORE GALLERIES AT YOUR TGP" or something similar. Plus this will count as one of your 3 outgoing links on that page. This will help your effort of being listed at as many places as possible. Hope that helps.

If you have a link that says "More Galleries" and it goes to a page that has "More Galleries" on it, even Ray Charles wouldn't see that as a blind link. If you want to use that as one of your 3 outgoing links (for those link lists that limit you to that), then thats fine with me.

That's what I was thinking.

If a link says "more galleries" and you find more galleries – rather than being sent to a trade or sponsor, etc. – then it isn't really a blind link.

I build really clean sites: no bullshit for the surfer, including no trades on TGP/MGP links – you click, you get the gallery, not another TGP/MGP

I'm just looking for a new twist that will make everyone happy, including my surfers, the folks that link to me, and the site(s) I'm promoting.

That's a tough job.

Yes, I feel that this can be correct. The problem is that not everyone feels the same way all the time. By adding "At Whatever" is more of a CYA so you have the possibility of being listed at as many places as possible.

Here is a thread about blind linking : http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...=blind+linking
Usually a blind link is about a paysite, but why risk it |huh
Just my opinion.
