Weird Windows Problem
This has been getting worse and worse. When I right click, many times I get the menu but nothing highlights. Instead, a new window opens up at my startup page.
Probably not but any ideas? |
Have you tried a "System Restore"
|
I have...
It doesn't happen all the time. Just enough to get irritating. |
Maybe it's time to reinstall your OS ... this always helps :D
|
Oddly I've never seen this happen on my Mac.

Jim,
Have you installed any new hardware recently? It might not be a bad idea to check for new video card and mouse drivers. I had a problem with my dual head video card ever since I installed it. Every now and then the mouse pointer would freak out and end up on the secondary monitor. A new driver seems to have fixed it. :) |

I think I am going to start using a corded mouse to see if that changes anything. It's more of a pain in the ass than anything else. But, is it more of a pain in the ass than dragging around a cord? :) |
Dragging around a cord? Are there bricks dangling off of it? :P I tried the wireless route but found the inconvenience of recharging/battery changes outweighed the inconvenience of a cord that is barely noticable.
On the right click thing, it may be an oddball program that is causing the conflict, that you don't have open all the time and that's why you only get the error sometimes. Where are you right clicking when this happens (in a browser, in a directory on your hard drive, on a desktop icon)? I was having trouble a while back using printscreen. Turned out having WMP open was somehow disabling the functionality in any app! It could be any little thing. 2c! |

I also don't get the cordless mice. It isn't like the cord restricts movements or adds weight to the mouse. In fact I find the cordless mice to be on the heavy side due to the batteries in them. I also find that cordless mice don't track as smoothly as corded mice.
On a completely different topic I got a laugh out of the new icon used in Leopard for networked Windows machines. It looks like an old CRT monitor with a crashed screen. :D |
I'm all for cordless -- both keyboard and mouse -- since I can use them anywhere. I like to plug my notebook into the big screen plasma tv and sound system so I can sit on the couch with just the wireless keyboard and mouse. Keyboard on my lap or next to me on the side table with the mouse.

I never used to give a rats ass about cordless or not until I purchased my most recent pc. It was built to be used either as a pc or a really nice dvr. It not only has a cordless keyboard and mouse but a remote control for everything else. :) Kind of used to a cordless mouse now.
|
My new Mac laptops all came with remote controls. I guess a remote would be useful if I was doing presentations or something but they are useless to me.
|
Yep, I stole the remote batteries long ago.
|
That's because you only have one button on your mouse! |cleo|

Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse - has left click, right click, scroll ball and even some squeezable side buttons. . |bat

On my 17" Macbook Pro I use the Kensington six button Mouse or tap on the trackpad with two fingers for right mouse click when not using an external mouse. |potleaf
Simon, if I had that big screen setup here I might reconsider the wireless route :)
On a regular desktop pc though I don't see the need for wireless. Just gives the cats another thing to bat around the house! |
