How many recips = too many?
 

Assuming text links. I've been using 16 with text, and it looks pretty neat, no rejections...I was thinking about bumping it up to 20. What's the max?

I have used 20 and no problems.

I think 20 would be the max, as after that it may be but cluttered. Im sure if youkeep them neat and prganized it shouldnt raise a flag.

Just had one accepted by sex-hot-sites.com with 16 - have another pending with the same recip table. Guess we'll see.

My main consideration is how it fits and looks on the page - and hell, if it looks good, I'm not counting.

- More Then 16 reciprocal banners on page

Shit - maybe I'll put 17 on all my sites - just to whittle my submit list down a bit.:D

I accept and use 20 with no problems, so far, that I know of.

Really depends on the design. I could see maybe getting 24 on one site and still looking ok, but that's probably pushing it. :D

Why do you want to go to 20? More chances for a surfer to leave your site. If I can't sell them on the index page I want a chance to sell them on my main page and having a large block of recips above the enter link gives me less chance that they'll enter my site. Personally I use 9, 3 columns with 3/row.

The rejection e-mail was 20 recips is way too many recips.

I replied with "How may recips should I use?"

The reply email was " 16 should be the maximum."

Lately surfing other sites. I have found that 20 is the norm. I am assuming that the submissions are from "trusted submitters". It's like hey bro I'll let you slide..... .

I used to use 20 but now I keep it to 18, 16, 15 or 12.
I don't think I ever got rejected for using 20, but it always seemed like I was pushing my luck.
Plus, with different "shape" recip tables, (3x6, 3x5, 4x4), it encourages me to use different layouts and helps with the freshness of the freesite.

I will add my .02 here and this is my own personal preference & opinion.

For me, since I do not mirror my freesites, more is indeed better. The more recips and lists I put on my page, the more traffic my site is going to get. Yes, I might lose a few more clicks to the extra recips, but I am betting that the extra traffic coming in vs. going out through the extra recips will be in my favor.

Another small benefit might be more incoming links pointing at your freesite for se traffic. Although these type of links are probably not worth as much these days, they still help IMHO.

using 20 is fine, the only LLs rejecting you immed will be http://sex-hot-sites.com/

Wow, 20 a page. I've been doing 8 lol. I was killing myself with making doorways and changing all the html pages so they're unique.

Do you guys use the text recips provided by the link lists? or do you make your own to make the 20?

I'm not sure how you could do 20 with the provided ones.

I do both – about 50% of the time, I use the recips provided by the LL. The rest of the time, I use text links.

When I make a new text link, I save it in a database so I can reuse it later. I'm currently in the process of automating this database so that I can have it make my LL tables to be pasted into the free sites. The new database will let me select the number of columns and rows I want, thus the number of links, autoload the CSS “class” tags so that I can change the look and feel of each sire without re-writing the LL tables. The database also tells me the date of the links I’m using to ensure that I update whenever an LL updates their links.

Even with text links, I find my pages get too crowded when I use more than 16.

I do text links and usually do 16-18, might go for 20 now that I have a few new favorite LL's. I keep a folder with the recip tables by category and I use CSS to give them a fresh look that is themed with the whole site design.

20 is fine. My thought is more recips = fewer doorways = less dupe content in the serps.

What if you made and index.html and and index2.html page with 12 per page? Would that be bad?

Agreed, and just to add: more recips = more inbounds = better serps, which means more gold dust SE traffic clicking on recips which can only be a good thing for LL owners.
