I guess spamming is okay

I've been getting a lot of "Friend Requests" on my MySpace page last couple days. I know it's the same person because every profile is the same, just a different name. They of course had "Click here to See my Pictures" image that linked to a adult affiliate program.

I got tired of it the other day and went to their sponsor and turned them in. Want to guess the reply? Of course, you have to talk to myspace, we can't do anything.

BullShit! You can terminate the assholes account! Obviously the person is using a bot or program that gets past MySpace defenses. Funny their "Anti-Spam" policy even says they don't allow spamming and they even mention MySpace by name. So much for a policy.

It's no wonder spam is so bad, the money sources won't do much about it, and they could be the most effective in at least curbing it. I guess as long as they are making money, thats all that counts.

Yeah, it’s amazing how many emails I get telling me that someone I never heard of, wants to link to my MySpace page... which I find odd since I don't even have a MySpace page...

Next thing I know I will have people telling me my wee wee is too small and I need help to keep it rock hard.

fuckers.....

Greenguy 2007-11-01 03:03 PM

Who was the sponsor?

Jarrod 2007-11-01 03:10 PM

You can turn those off by going into your account settings on myspace. For friend requests temporarily check "require captcha" and "need last name or email" this will make the random things stop.

The spam went to Amateur Match, which is Dating Gold. Actually here is the latest spam: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=272906730
EVERY one is the same, just a different name. I noticed they are running it through another domain first. I gave AM a profile, and could give them more, they didn't ask, didn't care. Basically said it was MySpace's problem, even though as I mentioned they say no MySpace spamming in their policy.

Am I wrong to think the Sponsor shouldn't do something?

I did not know that. Thank you!

Funny I didn't start getting these till I started messing with my Page after a long time and getting some "real" friends/family added. Guess it was the bait for the bot.

I bought a script last year that did MySpace friend requests, built it up to 7'000+ Bush hating friends, will leave it until election time then spam them all until they vote :D
I think anyone trolling for adult sales in MySpace is playing with fire, to many kids |huh

Bobc01 2007-11-01 04:03 PM

That's a bad attitude for Amateur match to take, it's clearly spamming as anything unsolicitated is.

It's a shame some sponsors don't take any care verifying traffic sources of their affiliates and give everyone else a bad name.

Greenguy 2007-11-01 04:14 PM

Why is it always a dating site that causes the porn industry to have a bad name?

Well, because they are running it through another domain, it would be a little hard to notice a problem. Guess they are smart so the traffic doesn't really show exactly where it is coming from.

Porn industry already has a bad name, nothing to do with dating more the piss poor management of affiliate programs like we see get posted up on here.
(EDIT: better just add) the bad sponsors we see posted on here before anyone gets the wrong idea.

The porn industry is mostly based on pure greed, what sort of a good name is that gonna get?

Even so, just to ignore it just shows how dishonest they are, who here would send traffic to a sponsor like that.

Email spammers pushing Viruses and Penis Pills...:)

Schpork 2007-11-01 07:20 PM

Well, the affiliate programs don't care untill they are approached by someone who can actually force them to stop. More spam = More money for them and more money is what it's all about.. They really don't care if your annoyed by spam honestly.

Am I the only one who is in it for the depravity too?

If you look at the number of small affiliates still barely making minimum wage income yet still at it, greed can't be the only motivator.

You're probably in it to make a living, the kind of thing i meant is theres so much hype on how much porn earns on the net that it attracts the idiots than want to be millionaires over night and stop at nothing to get there (spammers, trojan, hacking...)

I found a blog on one of the free hosts the other day, titled "Get rich from AFF", now what kind of people is that going to attract?

Look at the amount of bad sponsors, that's the greed i'm talking about not the people who promote in an honest way.

Minimum wage would be awesome.

I do it just so it's easier for friends and family to label me as the black sheep instead of forcing them to dig deeper into my personality traits in order to achieve the same purpose.

I second that! Been slinging porn for years and have yet to "get rich quick". |yawn|

You go Ronni! Get those bastard spammers busted! I get tons of MySpace spam from "friends" wanting me to "check out their pics" all the time. |angry|

I'm going to watch House now on the DVR. Have a good evening all.

LeRoy 2007-11-02 06:24 AM

That is why I have turned my myspace life over to my dog.

http://www.myspace.com/micro2004

He might be getting married soon. He hooked up with a girl shit-zsu in Florida.
My wife wants him to settle down. I want him to live young and slutty.

I have no life.

Not getting anywhere with that. Sponsor doesn't care. After all money is money right?

NY Jester 2007-11-02 10:02 AM

Is it me or am I being just Way too synical here, but couldn't the reason that the Sponsor program doesn't do anything about it or have a comment about this policy is that this "affiliate" is actually the sponsor? I mean its going through an entirely different domain, but thats like covering tracks..a sponsor could shell out a couple hundred bucks and register countless domains and "sign up" to be an affiliate of itself. Seems to me those that do nothing may have a bit deeper hand in the cookie jar than those that strike it down at first complaint.. Just my opinion. Either way its all pretty shitty and makes it even harder for honest WM to deal with traffic issues |bullshit|

myspace is too risky.. and the traffic has to be next to worthless. its mostly college guys looking to get laid (by real girls in their area, not obvious spam profiles) and emo girls writing in their blogs about how they got fucked over by those guys.
