Where Is Adult Webmastering Headed?

I've been giving this some thought as I change and update my site. I am wondering how adult webmasters will make money 2, 5 or 10 years from now. Will there be even more free porn then? How can surfers possibly need more free porn than they get today? In that environment how can money be made?

Sure there will always be TGPs, linklists and the like but what will be new and different? At some point even those types of site must hit some saturation point. Certainly how business was done 2, 5 or 10 years ago is not the way it is done now nor how it will be done in the future.

I would like to hear your take and I will give you mine.

Two thoughts from me:

- Sites With Some Differentiation / Uniqueness. I think that cam, single woman and dating sites will prosper. They will offer the surfer something unique and more personal than sites that take the shotgun approach of offering access to a gazillion sites and niches. Finding porn to masturbate to is easy. Finding a woman to date or have a on-line erotic relationship with is more difficult. Which brings me to my second thought ...

- Market Research Sites. Sites that offer opinion and research will do well. I am thinking of rating sites and the like. Surfers may still want to buy porn but they'll information to know they'll be getting "the best bang for their buck". [pun intended]

This adult webmaster is heading to the restroom to take a piss and then after that probably to the kitchen for some munchies, not really sure where I'll head after that.

Diversification is the key I think.

I tend to agree to a certain extent. General industrial style porn will gradually decline, but keeping in mind that that the internet usage overall is still growing and that should help balance or slowdown the decline. Better throughput by the billing processors for overseas buyers will also help to keep the cash coming in, and the overall dollar value growing, or a least not shrinking as fast.

I figure that micro-niche porn will continue to climb for a long time. They aren't anywhere near saturation points, and some aren't even available under the paysite model.

Web cam & dating sites will be around for a long time. People have been dealing in anonymous sex for untold ages. They tend to develop online relationships, and even if they leave, they mainly just move on to a different friend.

There is also a lot of technology coming out in these areas, that I have already started to explore/profit from.|thumb

REAL ones of these will become much more valuable to the surfer in the near future. The SEs are losing the technology battle pretty fast. I even had a discussion|catfight| with my AdWords rep about the fact that the only thing their quality bot could find on a flash site that I was trying setup PPC for, were the references to NetNanny, etc.|banghead|

I think we'll see an emergence of big, well funded porn conglomerates. The boundaries between TV, Radio and Internet will gradually come down, and porn will be a segment of most large entertainment firms.

Successful webmasters will partner with them. No quick sign ups...you will have to qualify to be a partner, perhaps even be an employee.

There will always be linklist and amateur type sites where people can get cheap porn, but the profits will be slim with the big dogs getting the lion's share of the market with higher quality, branded porn. We might even see the return of the porn star.
