Tonight's Big Storm

These weather people are killing me. One channel claims we are going to get over 2 feet of snow. Another says 7" to a foot. And another says it will be all sleet. I am guessing mostly rain :)

I see all new fancy software with snow predictions on the news and yet none of them can agree. You would think that after all these years of predicting the weather, they might get it right once in a while.

Yeah they're calling for 30 cms for us tomorrow (about 12 inches).

terry 2007-12-15 09:18 AM

Montreal is expecting 40 cms tomorrow (night)... im hoping for less. Will be fun to see how much Toronto gets and how their clean up efforts go.

Jim 2007-12-15 09:20 AM

Good luck to you Ramster. Hopefully you don't get a shitload of ice.

Of course I hope we get a lot of snow but I have to watch what I ask for. Several Christmas's ago we got about 4 feet. That was a little too much for even me. :) My truck got stuck a few times.

Tonight I'm suppossed to get 9 inches of snow. Wouldn't sweat it too much usually but I now live in rural missouri. When the roads are dry their pretty dicey (alot of blind turns and blind hills and on some parts if you drive off the road it's a thirty foot drop). I've only been living down here about 4 months (moved here from St.Louis) so I believe I know the roads well enough-we'll see.

I was on the phone with Jim & looking at the radar on my cute little WeatherBug & was confused as to where this storm was. Then I animated it & saw the big blob making it's way up from Kentucky.

The weather guy on NBC said that the big part of the storm will hit around 7:00 AM Sunday |crazy| Based on the current movement, it'll be here in time for me & Yell to leave for the Sabres game |thumb

See, the weather guys are morons. We are supposed to start getting it either at 7PM tonight or midnight. Depending on who you listen to.

Here in Toronto we are supposed to get 25cm (10in). Please send us the Army as we'll be unable to cope!

I hate how the weather has now become infotainment ... cue the ominous music!

That's embarrassing. And Toronto calls itself a CANADIAN city. :D

The news stations get a majority of their info from here http://www.weather.gov/ The rest they get from their own doppler's or whatever they have.

Then the the local forecasters put their spin on it depending on how the station runs. (The optomistic ones will always have the temps +3 or 4 degrees - hence sleet and ice).

Personally, I just look at the NOAA info and skip everything else. Looks like a foot or so of new snow in Buffalo area.

For hurricane predictions I've decided that they just throw darts blindly at a chart.

Sunny in the upper eighties here and the rain that we were suppose to start getting yesterday through tomorrow still hasn't started.

Maybe the weather people should put windows in their offices to look at through.

Just the idea of you thinking of cock is pretty funny in itself.

Hope you guys get thru all that snow unscathed!

I know you're going to hate me but its 77 here today :)

Jim 2007-12-17 07:07 AM

Just as an fyi, none of these cocksuckers were right including me. :) We ended up with about 5 inches Saturday night, a little sleet and then a shit load more last night. The street plow has dumped at least 2 feet extra in our driveway and even the sidewalks. I keep glancing out the window as the sun rises and dread getting rid of it.

No school today so I am on the lookout for kids looking to make a few extra bucks. :)

For some reason that phrase just doesn't sound right :D
