What email address...

..do you use for your websites? As anyone, I own several domains and I wanted to know if you use a personal one on each site like 'jester' at mydomain or do you use a generic one? like webmaster or admin

Is it better to use a personal one as to give yourself a "online brand" or is it best to keep it generic and "out of sight"

Maj. Stress 2007-12-17 06:36 PM

I just use the email that is set up on my link list domain. Most places want you to use the same email no matter what domain the site you are submitting is on.

Maj. Stress - I may have been misunderstood. What Im asking is what email address do you set up for your domain..not your submission email, but the actual email for that domain - do you personalize it or do you keep it generic and use admin or webmaster etc.

Maj. Stress 2007-12-17 06:56 PM

I don't think it really matters. I just use my first name.

Could it help to stay away from the admin and webmaster and such, the common and easy to guess?

It could help stop spammers when fishing for an address, and dumping a ton of crap on you.

NY Jester 2007-12-17 09:13 PM

I guess its just subjective.

Cleo 2007-12-17 09:19 PM

Just pick one and use it all the time.

Your nick @ one of your domains is usual best.

RageCash-Ben 2007-12-17 11:43 PM

I think it is good to use something similar to the name you use on the boards especially for submissions.

Thanks Cleo, thats what I usually do.. I use Jester@ for all my domains

I'm info@domain.com for all domains...and they are all forwarded to my gmail account... =) gmail rules...you can send and recieve for other pop accounts with it but it says: sent to you by info@domain.com courtesy (or something like that) user@gmail.com. It's still cool though...you can't have 25 squirrelmail accounts...or at least, I can't

If you haven't already stuck links to your email address(es) all over your websites, you may want to do yourself a favor and either add a contact form instead or look at using Javascript or some other method to hide your actual email address. Otherwise the harvester bots will eat them up and your spam mailbox will just keep growing in size.

It depends on what I am doing.
If it is GGandJ business, I use either webmaster or jim @ greenguyandjim. If it is for other adult business, it's jim @ javes.com. All non-adult correspondence is jim @ jimsreport.com.
