Pay For The Porn Or Else?
Apparently there is an adult site that has come up with a naughty way of making surfers pay for porn. The site offers a free trial, but to get the free trial they make you download some software which then hijacks your pc. After the trial is up, they begin popping reminders to pay up and can even disable someones pc? They should be shot or severely beaten IMO. |club|
Here's the source. |
That domain is registered to a company here in the UK.
I'm gonna see if i can get these fuckers busted. |
Oh well there seems to be a whole forum dedicated to the victims of these scumbags and also no one is willing to do anything about it.
First time i've taken any notice of this and it was my understanding that demanding money with menaces is illegal here but it seems not. http://mbsvictims.org.uk Can't say i'm surprised really as this is the UK where being honest just doesn't pay anymore. |
Here's some more reading on this including an article in the Guardian..

Wow, that is outright blackmail. Someone should just sue them.

Funny how it's always porn sites that give the rest of us a bad name. |greenguy|

Lowry, I saw something similar a few weeks ago posted here. Seems its catching on.
Bastards! |
I know it's fucked up, but this day and age, where everyone gets screwed by adware when they use freeware....I have to put some owness on the users...didn't everyone learn not to download this software from the casino epidemic a few years ago? With sooo much free porn on the net that doesn't require a log in or anything, how are you going to register and install some software? All that said, it still doesn't make it right....I'm with Jester...these guys are bastards...

They must have armed guards 24/7 because they're either very brave or completely stupid.

Maybe stuff like this might start slowing them down.
Dutch spyware makers fined 1 million euro "The two companies behind DollarRevenue infected more than 22 million computers. Only 1 percent to 2 percent of the victims resided in The Netherlands. Executives of the firms were fined up to €300,000 each, and their companies also received fines of €200,00 to €300,000. OPTA declined to disclose the names of the firms and their executives for legal reasons." http://www.infoworld.nl/idgns/berich...2573B50074325B |
From what i understand they're exploiting loopholes in the UK laws by having small print in which the user has agreed to the terms and conditions.
Trading standards have over 300 complaints against Microbillsys but can't do a thing about it. In those other 2 links they have even the cheek to threaten legal action against Macafee and Symantec and anyone else for publishing removal guides for their malware. Most of my sales are in the UK and i can imagine anyone that's been stung by this shit will think twice about going near adult sites again. Here's the type of thing it fuels.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6293907.stm |

Sure... None of us are going to download and install something like this as we all know better. What about all the people that are new to computers or the net and get shafted by this adult site, thus giving the rest of us a bad name. Not everyone is an internet pro yanno. :D |
