Time-Warner Testing Higher rates for Downloads
Time-Warner (parent company of AOHell) announced today they are going to a tiered rate methodology that will start testing in Texas next quarter.
Here is the article. The article says that 5% of their subscribers are doing appx. 50% of the downloads. Currently our provider, Cox, has 3 levels for 29.95, 39.95 and 49.95 which is what I have but it's unlimited up/down loads ..just my speed is higher. It would seem that if Time-Warner adopts this, most of the other companies like Comcast** and Cox would also adopt as well. **Comcast CEO, Brian Roberts said in his keynote at CES "Third, we're committed to delivering the best customer experience, end to end-- from the first phone call, through the installation, and beyond." I know that most of my East Coast buddies that suffer through the endless outages, the rude CSRs and lengthy waits for repair service will beg to differ. *please feel free to move this outta business to somewhere else if not "General Business Knowledge"* |
I'm surprised that I really don't have any time warner problems that others have. Maybe it's because I live in a town with 3000 people.
In my old office I had a Business Class Modem that really wasn't any faster but it was about $300/month. |
They already have an option that $10 more for a higher speed (but fuck me if I could tell the difference)
I left them & went with Verizon's FiOS which has a couple of different tiers, the lowest being MUCH faster that TW's shitass service. |
