So I guess I have one of the iphones that has a volume problem. I just thought...ehh, it's not really that loud. But I listened to another one yesterday and it is easily twice as loud as mine. Apple claims they know nothing about the problem but if you search "iphone volume" you will see it's not just me. And their answer for this...take the headset plug and plug it in a pull it out about 15 times. :)

Oh yeah, I upgraded on the 15th and it made no difference.

Anyway, is there a way to do this without using a mac?

You would have to jailbreak it to do what that article describes which is probably not a good idea.

Mine is plenty loud so not sure why yours isn't. Try do a restore in iTunes to reset everything.

Did you remove the plastic film from the phone after you got it?

I tried restoring and the plastic thing is funny. Apple asked me that too. I asked what that had to do with the earphones being low had to do with plastic. The speaker volume is fine. I can send it back to them for replacement if I want to.
