Jesus Christ The Nevada Caucus is Confusing

So, it looked like Clinton won handedly.
The results were...
Clinton 51%
Obama 45%
Edwards 4%
But, because of the way the caucuses are run, Clinton gets 12 delegates and Obama gets 13. So, who the hell really won? I guess Clinton can claim the popular vote but that didn't really work for Gore when the election was stolen from him.

Besides my rant in the Morning post.. the news here has been saying this will probably be the 1st and last caucus that we will have. turns out it costs more to caucus than it does to primary.

and if ever there was a state that turns a blind eye to the good old boy corruption, it would be this one. Several of the caucus places had no representatives to collect the ballots.. some didn't even have ballots and the voters had to write their choice on pieces of paper cobbled together. The Secretary of State is now going to determine if those will count or not count. A few well placed $$ in his pocket will make the decision easier for him.

The one I went to was this long line of Mormons lining the hallway of the school talking about the Baseball Glove's qualifications which I'm sure was not legal. Missionaries in the parking lot accosting people as they drove up.

I worked the 1st election in South Africa after Mandela was released.. it was much more organized than this one.

That sounds really fucked up Jim.
How can you win the vote and lose seats to another party |huh
It must make sense to somebody I guess but why have such an odd system? Surely It's much easier to say you won and that gets you have x number of seats.

|huh who knows.. no one here seems to know. The news here is as confused as the voters. Apparently they are saying that even though Hillary won the popular vote, because of Obama's strong showing outside of LV, he got an additional delegate.

I think all states should be "winner take all". And, all states should be private. Look at Iowa...people had to publicly state who they were nominating. I wonder how much that skewed the vote.

SirMoby 2008-01-21 10:14 PM

Is it really that complicated? I thought if you win a district that you win the delegate for that district. It's kind of like the Presidential election where the popular vote doesn't count.

I think the the popular vote should count and each candidate should get a percentage of the delegates.

I don't like winner take all. That makes it too easy for my vote to not count.
