Obama Delivers Top 10 for Letterman

For some reason I was up last night..

Letterman had Obama doing the Top 10 List.

Here it is on YouTube.

I love #4. So very true. *staring at my obsolete HP that is only 4 months old*

That was actually pretty good. I like the slight jab of #2 but not so big on #1. Imagine mandatory Oprah's Book Club reading in high schools. I have nothing against reading, but I usually avoid her selection. :D

There have been a couple of great authors who publicly denounced her book club when they discovered that their publisher put Oprah's stamp on their book, most notably Jonathan Franzen. That stamp may sell books, but I tend to think that most writers of true literature don't want corporate affiliation nor do they labor to appeal to television views whom believe that Oprah is the second coming. True story: I really wanted to purchase a certain book by Phillip Roth (I don't recall which one), but it had the OBC seal on it. I took the book up to the counter and asked the clerk, "do you have a copy of this without the idiotic Oprah seal of approval?" All I got was a blank stare. I put the book on the counter and walked out. ;)

I completely agree. I forget which book I was looking for on Amazon (might have been The Road) but I kept clicking through the results looking for one that didn't have that damn seal.

I imagine book publishers are now pressuring some of their authors to gear literature towards Oprah and her manic depressed bored housewife audience. She might end up doing for literature what she did for psychology with Dr. Phil.
