What is Your Favorite Charity? I'm looking for one...
I am going to begin donating 10% of net website sales to charity. I'm thinking of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Feed The Children.
The 10% will be sent DIRECTLY FROM CCBill so the charity will receive a weekly check on my behalf. This donation will NOT affect affiliate pay in any way. The 10% will come directly out of MY paycheck. My "Single Girl" sites will not apply. But both AmateurMarket.net and NakedCollegeGirls.tv will be included in this. What is your favorite charity? And why should I choose that charity? This is serious. I am going to implement the donations THIS WEEK. If more of us did this, not only would we help make the world a better place, but we just might change a few opinions about our industry (maybe VISA would even soften up a bit). Anyway, once my charity has been chosen, I'll make a big announcement. PLEASE NOTE: This is 10% of Credit Card and Check sales. I will soon be installing a dialer and web900 option (thanks for adding those, CCBill). I don't know how those work quite yet, but if the monies from those go to my primary account number like the Credit Cards and Checks, those will be included also. |
I have two:
Make A Wish Foundation: fulfills the last wishes of terminally ill kids. Locks of Love: they make wigs for "chemo-kids" to replace the hair they lose from donated hair from long haired hippy type freaks like me that decide to cut their hair. From what I've seen both of these charities have relatively low administration costs associated so you know that most of your bling is going directly to providing help to those in need. I gave up on Unicef and United Way several years back when their admin costs soared above 25%. Edit and a side note: Here in about a year I'm prolly gonna get fed up with my long hair and donate my long thick locks to them. :) |
Make a Wish! Thanks for bringing them up! That's a GREAT charity....

why not greenpeace or wwf? animals need help too.

Ours go to the native people of Pine Ridge Rez in SD. At least this way i know our contributions make a direct difference and not have 75% paying for administrative duties. Just our choice.
Lakota Nation Monthly there are updates on "needs" and i pick one and paypal right off. Usually about 2 or 3 weeks later the letters of thanks arrive. Some i've saved and still popped the occassional for no reason gift card, 20.00 or boxed clothing, blankets etc. At least, for me anyway, i feel i'm making a difference. |

I've narrowed it down to St. Jude's or the Make a Wish Foundation. |
I go for http://www.heartfoundation.com.au/ but this ties in well with my site
www.heartbeatbabes.com and I give to http://www.thespasticcentre.org.au/ cause I suffer from a form of cerebral palsy called generalized dystonia I don't have it bad but does make life difficult but I make enough cash for me so I donate as much as I can to others. regards garv |
Make a wish is NOT a porn friendly charity.
They actually denied a check from one of our events after seeing a press release stating that we were donating 100% of the door to them. They also support censorship and dictate what is considered a "moral last wish". Some of you may remember their fight with Ted Nugent a few years ago. A dying child asked to meet and go hunting with Ted Nugent as his last wish, Ted agreed and the organization denied the kid because "hunting is immoral". In response Ted opened his own charity and now has a hunting camp for terminally ill children. What I have done historically is donate 10% of my profits each month to a different charity. I allow users to request their favorite charities and if their stats look good to me then I send a donation there. Id also look for a charity that has a low overhead. It amazes me how many of these groups actually have more than 50% overhead which means that half of your donation goes to administration...rediculous! http://www.sciamachy.net/donate/top100/top100.html My personal favorites are Mainstream Doctors without Borders Special Olympics Sexual Assault Crisis vday.org rainn.org |
That's good info about Make a Wish...

Extreme gives to a Local Charity, but I also on a personal level give to just about every Cancer Fund I can (my parents were both taken by cancer), I also on a personal level give to Altzhiemers (yeah I know, I cant spell) as well, someone very close to me was taken by that sick ass sickness and I was young and had to watch the entire thing.

For many years, I have been contributing to pediatric aids foundations. A very, very dear friend of mine died from the disease (it was a rare form of cancer he got because he was hiv positive) and, since then, pediatric aids has been my charity.
Here is a foundation you might consider Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation Some of you might remember her. She was the wife of the guy who played Starsky in Starsky and Hutch. She and their 2 children died of the diease years ago after she contracted aids through a blood transfusion and never knew about it till they got ill.. |
