Social Bookmarking

Hey to all you much more experienced bloggers than I...I had a question about social bookmarking..how do they work and what is it that actually has to be done for them? I see some blogs with the little "table of recips" for the bookmarking sites..whats the benefits etc?

I also hear things like "pinging" my blog and submitting my feed..any words of wisdom, enlightenment or advice?

Theres a lot of information that goes along with those simple questions.

Social Bookmark sites are sort of like directories other than they link to your posts and not your index page. I haven't played around with them much but I am thinking getting some links into my pages as opposed to my blog roll wouldn't be a bad thing. Just not sure which if any of the sites are worth it.

UW's LL PerveSpace takes blog posts.

Pinging, you have a WP blog and haven't messed around in the options too much, happens automatically with WP pinging Ping-o-matic by default. Ping-o-matic, then in turn, reports to a number of feed directories that you have updated your blog.

If you haven't sumbitted to the feed directories, or at least the ones that take adult, the pinging will do little. Some will list you some won't. If you look around here and a few other places your bound to be able to find a long list of feed directories. Most of them wont take adult though.

Ok, that is some good answers. I do see some ault blogs with a little recip table of maybe like 8-12 "bookmarking" sites..so Im assuming that the posts are what need to be linked rather than as you said the blog roll or anything? P.O.M is already in WP?

Also I have found bookmarking your own pages on your own account might get you about 100 uniques a day, it does for me anyway, del.icio.us is good aswel as ofcourse, technorati.

Just create your own account and bookmark your pages, you will see that other people will follow your lead.

Another advantage is the backlinks and additional search engine traffic.

Thanks for adding me, and any one with a webmaster blog, or announcement that is business related etc... is welcome to post it on the site. Its not going to get you a ton of traffic but it is free and getting about 400 - 500 hits a day. PR2 and you can also show up on referralmatrix.com which is a pr4 all 100% free.
