Sponser tracking software?
I need some advice.
I've seen mention of different sponser tracking software here in the boards...especially in GreenGuys sponser threads...but damned if I can find them now..lol I know there are control panels out that that should do the trick, but of them all which work with whom and which do not. I have 7 ccbill accounts linked together...but will a third party software be able to access them...how about ARS, Sunny Dollars, Extreme Paychecks, IBill,Top Bucks,Silver Cash, and Max Cash to name a few? All their interfaces are quite different so is there a software package that can track all or most of those.. That's not even getting into the myriad of smaller niche specific sponsers...whooo it is getting hectic tracking it all manually..lmao |
Dr Bizarro uses a great new one. If he sees this thread he will tell you the name. I forgot (Sorry Dr B |sad| ) the name of it.

I know greenie uses this one Here

Thanks to MrMaryLou for the one Greenie mentioned...I'm using the trial now and it looks like it does most of what I want...and covers all my mainstream sponsers and several of my smaller niche ones....good stats tools it seems too.
Also thanks both DrB for the pm and ExtremeJohn for the post, both of you point to the stats remote one which I also downloaded the free trial (thanks surfin, DrB messaged me) This one early on has a really cool interface, has a few deeper stats if they work, and for the usage I need 20 bucks cheaper per month to boot. Revstats seems to have better analysis tools, but I'll work them both to see how they meet my needs. The limit of only 5 accounts in the RevStats trial doesn't give it a full test :( but it does give a taste. If anyone else has a favorite I'd appreciate a link, but either of those so far will serve my needs. |
I use RevStats and I like it.

I use "stats remote"...but I think they're all fucked up for some reason right now ...I've been using them since last July, and I really thought they were somewhat accurate until year end here. Then I compared then to a couple of 1099's that I've recieved, along with my CCbill stats, and they're off...yeah, by a couple hundred dollars here and there...Not so bad right? But check this shit out... Currently they are telling me right now that I've made over $18k with a certain sponser...lol. Funny thing is, since I really don't promote them, I checked their stats and could only come up with some $20 or so...lol. WTF? One thing said here: I'm so glad that they're not 1099 ing me!!! I just sent them a second email to find out what the hell is going on...so I'll keep ya posted. Very interesting...|jester|

I mean, c'mon? Are any of these stats programs right on? Please let me know cuz I find a few hundred dollars here and there even to be a little disturbing...I wouldn't use them to base my year end income on...and if anyone is, I would definetly check twice before you end up hurting yourself...|skull|

RevStats has a few bugs every now & then, but as soon as I see them I send in a support request & they get corrected.
Plus you have to throw in that if the sponsor changes their stats - even a little - that could throw off the reporting for these programs. Just email support & tell them about the error, what you see in your stats & what they haqve in their admin & let them sort it out :) |

well early results are in....we like stats remote better, and at first glance it seems cheaper
but there are 3 of us and when we have to buy 3 separate licenses in the same office to run it concurrently, it becomes as greatly more expensive then rev stats as it is cheaper at first glance....hmmm...if I can run it on server 2003 then perhaps I can use it on our terminal server...if not then the web based revstats seems the better option |

Ok......we decided both RevStats and Stats Remote were sweet programs...They both do what I asked...with both doing added things.
I would recommend to use both if you can afford them. Basic funtions They both track my sponsers...even multiple accounts with a particular sponser. They both have problems with ccbill once you combine the accounts....once you combine them within ccbill for their gret stats tracking both combine all the stats. They both have ridiculous stats on a particular program at times...but both are pretty accurate with all of them on recent stats stasremote does better if you want to track up to the moment stats revstats does better if you want to track individual sites you are sending traffic to (stats remeote lumps all the account stats together though a single click within the software logs you in to that sponser for a more complete breakdown) revstats is available any place any times...no matter where you log in from stats remote is a little more secure in this as your log-ins to your sponser are stored locally..you have to trust revstats as they hold all your log-ins info online....for those worried about this it is a definate plus for statsemote. stats remote you can INSTALL on any machine, but ONLY ONE machine can access the stats at any given time Big deficit we believe (more on that later) Stats remote does give you a constant presence checking your stats every 15 min as a minimun...Rev Stats daily Stats Remote runs in your system tray so you can see constant updates...RevStats runs online so you have to log in to see the stats Stats remote will give you a breakdown day by day if you want as a default...Rev Stats from what I can see will only give you a period breakdown RevStats will give you a breakdown of every site you promote within a certain sponser....statsremote lumps them together...a HUGE plus for RevStats You can log in to check your combined stats from any computer...a huge plus again you have to log in online to RevStats to get your current stats...Stats Remote as I said is is on your box and does that automatically There is a lot more, but mainly they are separate programs, both are only indicators in no way totally accurate...but very useful tools...but not ones to base your bank accounts on ;) Overall as far as functions in our opinion StatRemote edges out RevStats...though RevStats ability to breakdown a sponser b;ows StatsRemotes inability to do that away Use both if you can, and log in often to your sponsers to make sure exactly what is going on...these are only tools to generally judge traffic So finally our decision and why we made it RevStats for now and add StatsRemote we can On every front StatsRemote edged out RevStats in tradeoffs...except one We need multiple access to our stats...at present there are 3 of us, and if we grow as hoped perhaps 6 With RevStats anyone of us can log in and check the stats Under the agreement with StatsRemote we have to buy a license for every concurrent user...having to shut down the application on one machine for another machine to access the stats removes most of the advantages of the software. Group pricing I was offered was to pay for three accesses to the same info for the price of two is a significant increase over the cost of RevStats....monthly.....and being more prohibative with EVERY added user. So though we actually like stats remote better we are going with RevStats If you are only on one computer...have one user checking your stats....then I most definately suggest you use Stats Remote if you can only afford one...it is sweet! But I had to decline JB's offer on icq as it was ridiculous to me to have to pay at least double to check the exact same stats I myself cannot see the pricing for running software on different machines that only access the same info as anyway fair. JB I thank you for coming to the board.....and even though I do not feel your offer was fair. If i wanted to run different stats...sure charge me for that, but it seems you want to be bill gates jr |
nice summary :)

i love revstats
|
I've used Stats Remote for over a year now, and it has worked fine...but I recently subscribed to Revstats, 'cause I wanted detailed info on individual sites within each sponsor, which stats remote doesn't provide.
One problem I've had recently with Revstats is a lot of 500 errors - server busy - I'm even getting one now (7AM EST - 3/25/04). Also, I've asked repeatedly to have categories enabled for my account, with no answer |sad| I'll give it some more time...... |
I use Microsoft Excel powered by 20 minutes of hard work a day. I have a stats remote account but stats for some of the programs are totally fucked up. And I can't compare sponsors if the stats of one sponsor is down. I need accuracy, so I do it by hand. And I actually enjoy that work. It's the most exciting time a day. And I get to visit all my sponsors to see if there are any news, problems etc. Keeps me updated.
