'Porn King' Says Google Should Block Porn Access
http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/08/02/15/1939257.shtml Co-chair and co-founder of Vivid wants the major search engines to "erect stronger barriers" between their search engines and adult web sites. Personally, I've never been against blocking people who shouldn't have access to adult web sites if it is done without inadvertently blocking adults looking for it. But I think someone wants to protect his DVD sales. |
They have filters all ready.

While I may have issues with the word "Toys" popping up a dildo store the rest is pretty straight forward. If someone wants Google to list sites that show "Tits", "Pussy", "Fat Cocks" and so on then why shouldn't it?
I think the owners of Vivid want to start their own search engine and getting rid of Google would help. |
I think he has lost his mind or lost his sales

Vivid is one of the "old style" porn companies, they deperately tried to get positioned in the internet. Their movies cost them heaps of money, but DVD sales are on the way down for many years...and they have to watch other companies flourish on the internet while they struggle to adapt to the changes.
Since they have a famous brand and loads of offline advertising, their position would be much stronger if surfers couldn't find porn via search engines easily. This jump on the censorship train looks like a really desperate attempt to protect an outdated business model. |

ie: solo girl sites - non adult KWs for an adult site |
Seems that he's lecturing on it.
Demonstrating considerable public-relations savvy, Steven Hirsch, co-chairman and co-founder of adult film studio Vivid Entertainment, planned to tell MBA candidates at the Yale School of Management (SOM) that Yahoo and Google need to erect stronger barriers to keep children from accessing adult material. http://www.conntact.com/article_page.lasso?id=41708 |
He probably thinks the internet is a truck...;)

OR MAYBE- just MAYBE someone should be monitoring what their child is doing on the internet? hmmmm? maybe the parents should actually try to be parents for once....
