Acouple of things and then I'll let others comment about the rest.

First you need some good sales text at the top. Just lying a banner with no text won't work ell at all.

Second if you use an "exit" link it should always follow in the enter. i.e ENTER EXIT

Good start for a first time :)

Thank you surfin...anyone else? I'm looking for all the way possible to make this stuff better...less trial and error...more success that way :) I'm all ears

MrMaryLou 2004-02-06 07:59 PM

Not bad for a first try at all just work on your skills a bit. More text remember your a sales person too :) Also ditto on what Surfn said :)

DrSmut 2004-02-06 08:04 PM

Could you guys be a little more specific about where i need more text...just like which pages generally...I felt like i played up text big time on the main page...but i look back and its lacking for sure on the entry page...how about the gallery pages...more text there too?

MrMaryLou 2004-02-06 08:08 PM

Ya really need to tie in the text with your adds better :) link the text under a banner :)

DrSmut 2004-02-06 08:15 PM

Thank you for the insight Mrmarylou...your feedback is much appreciated. I took a lot back at the site...and I noticed that I did have text linked together with my banners most of the time, however, most of the time i had the text ABOVE the banner opposed to below as you just stated. So, just to clear things up and make sure we're on the same page... Is text below the banner generally more effective? Thanks

I didn't look at the gallery pages the first time. I would either get rid of the irregular buttons banners or link them. It's fairly simple to use one link to coverall the text and buttons you have at the top of each gallery.

Remember you want to sell your sponsor at the top of your index page...if they get inside you are doing something wrong.

That said you can't do anything about freeloaders that burn your BW. My logs tell me how much time the average surfer spends on my pages and the last one is 1 hour+ and that is always a fraction of 1%. :D The bulk of my surfers spend about 2 mins.

DrSmut 2004-02-06 08:27 PM

Yeah, thats just an example of my crappy html skills at this point...i couldnt get them to all link together...only sepperate and i didnt want to get charged for having extra outgoing links....if anyone knows the html to do that i'd be greatly appreciative. Thank You

Surfn 2004-02-06 08:36 PM

Here is an example from one of my galleries where there "appear" to be 4 links under the pics but there is only one.

DrSmut 2004-02-06 08:45 PM

Very nice...how did you make it so that when they click right or left they all dont get highlighted with that kinda grey box around all the linked items?

Surfn 2004-02-06 08:47 PM

Grey box?

DrSmut 2004-02-06 08:49 PM

Well take my free site for example...When i have the banner and text linked together as one link...and you click the link or right click it...there is kind of a near-tranparent box that go around all the linked items. Seems that yours doesnt?

Surfn 2004-02-06 09:13 PM

The best way to learn is to try. I would concentrate on getting your text down to where it sells. Then worry about the advanced stuff. No need to put the cart before the horse.

DrSmut 2004-02-06 10:02 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Much appreciated...Has anyone had a chance to look at my other thread ? I'm very curious what will be said about that one

grzepa 2004-02-07 07:39 AM

A little too much text for me, but hey Im a newbie also :D

MrMaryLou 2004-02-07 08:59 AM

There are times that there can be too much text but if you lay it out the right way text is always good :)

soggy 2004-02-07 11:49 PM

Sometimes not a lot of text is needed. When you get stale go look at a Playboy or Cosmo cover and see how they are trying to keyword sell you.
