Brute Force Attack
 

I just had to reconfigure one of our servers due to a brute force attack this morning.

You may see a few 404's on my freesites and LL as the new ip's propigate the network.

As for the attack - looks like the IP's are in the same range as the ones used since last month by AFF to spam my logs.

Anyone that has hard link trades with me that promotes AFF should get in touch with me. I haven't made the final decision yet but I'm seriously thinking of pulling all links with anyone that promotes the cock-sucking scumbags at AFF.

I've had a lot spam logs from them too .

AFF are a fucking pain in the ass with their spammers, hope you get it all sorted. :)

AFF sent 250% more hits last night than I got from legitimate traffic. Somebody also hammered the pay site (can't prove who this was yet).

Over 64000 attempts to crack the ftp, ssh, and the member's area.

As far as we can see, no breaches but the fuckers killed my bandwidth and slammed the server.

We've implemented security procedures to reduce the impact on the server but I still have a bunch of work ahead of me.

As an added note: A few affiliates had passwords on the pay-site(s) with weak passwords - I'll be changing (or have changed) those passwords. Our auto-enroll password system is pretty FN good but a few of the ones I loaded manually are not cryptic enough for my linking.

that sucks. Just recently one of the pay sites we have got slammed by an attack. Had about 200 emails from strongbox with a brute force attack. sucks when you wake up to that.

We have brute force protection systems available for all of these daemons
which not only prevent them from getting in, but greatly reduce the server
load they cause. Let us know if we can be of help.

Everything is back to normal here - bastards didn't break anything but they sure fuckin tried.
