Keep a spiral notebook on your desk and write down all your passwords as you get them. Hard Drives crash and cookies get crumbled so at least you have 1 major backup. Very primitive but works.

Yeah- luckily, I haven't signed up with many sponsors yet.

But I have been writing username/pass down as well as keeping them in an MSWORD doc.

It's really all those sites like banking, credit cards, phone company, even this board...

Funny, I just replied in a thread regarding backup. :D

I really should export my cookies and favorites more often.

I delete my cached files from IE6 pretty often. I've only hosed my cookies once before. Why they don't have a warning with a box you must check for cookie deletion I dunno.

I've done that before - very annoying.

What recently pissed me off is that after doing a normal Windows update, it deleted all my passwords |banghead|

Cleo 2004-02-08 08:42 AM

This is why I do nightly backups.

Mot sure how Windows does it but it is just a file for each browser stored in ~/User/Library folder on a Mac.

I put my User ID/Password of all my sites right in the name of the bookmark so as to be easy to find in case I need it.

Speaking of which… Is it just me or did FlintDigital put code on their site that prevents the browser from auto filling in the user ID and password of their site?

Add me to the list of lost passwords this week :(

Extreme John 2004-02-08 09:50 AM

Yeah and it sucks, not as much of a hassle as the new Secuiryt update for windows removing all your usernames and passwords, that really sucks!

Alphawolf 2004-02-08 12:32 PM

Yeah. Well, one good thing is that when ya hit a site and you used to be able to auto login,- when ya can't...

..Sometimes I wonder do I really need to be dealing with this site?

Good test of what happens when you need to retrieve your password from sites.

Sometimes it's easier to just register all over again for some stuff.

True, it's like when you move you always find that box you dont want to bring with you anymore because you know it's just crap.
