Dating site profiles... How to get them?
 

If someone was to start a dating site...
Where can you get profiles in it?
Can they be purchased?
The problem is... why would someone join a dating site that has no profiles... even if its free...?

Any suggestions?

We once started a dating site in Belgium/The Netherlands, first put in 30 fake profiles of some amateur looking women and then sent traffic to it (not that honest but it worked). After a few months our free datingsite had a couple of 100 of guy profiles and 10-20 real women profiles. @ that point we removed the fake ones and noticed no difference in new profile additions.

But thats how we did it, don't know what you had in mind :)

How did you send traffic to it? Wich was more productive?

We build it as a part of some kind of Linklist.
So the traffic that came to the Linklist had the option to join the dating area

Any other ways, without putting fake profiles?

I would like to know any of your ideas because I plan on making a site too...

My first idea was give some paper ads on the street.

i think many of the profiles are bought from other companies, and they probably charge alot.


one way i thought of geting alot of people into a dating site is to offer a free chat board...city by city.

and then offer girls a free membership and charge the guys.

just a way to get it kickstarted, but if done right you coule probably wrap up alot of large cities.
