We were informed November 2007 by Visa and Mastercard that they want the 2257 info for every website hosted at the PA central office. Of course that is not a feasible thing...and our legal dept jumped on it. So far without any luck. Around 8 weeks ago the entire PA operation was given away to a 3rd party. How do they run their merchant accounts? No idea! We negotiated a grace period: If we are able to re-instate merchant accounts for PA operations will be returned to the company who used to run PA. So far no luck. In other words: PA already separated regarding ownership but is still logically tied to VW and RC (through GWS and RRC). The logical link might be removed very soon. It all depends on how the 3rd party decides on their future plans with PA and on any cooperation with us or not.

This is all I know about this whole thing. Due to my ongoing rehab I am not in a condition to deal with this situation myself...sorry. Whenever I hear news about this subject I will post it right here.

They have known this since Nov and has never past it on to anyone thats with PA|bullshit|. Payments have been running month late for a couple of months now.
I am looking for a new home. I have 8 sites and 2 large ones. If any one has an Idea I am listening. I use my own content and don't have the bucks for my own Merchant account.

docholly 2008-04-24 06:28 PM

Damn... and here I thought was my perfect opportunity to refer to PA as Pittsburgh on one side, Philly on the other and Alabama in between.

GenXer 2008-05-12 11:49 PM

Lmao I thought P.A. was a nickname personally, since one of my best friends is P>A. for Phillip Allen :-)

Tanker 2008-05-13 12:45 AM

I could not have guessed who PA was

Toby 2008-07-06 12:14 AM

What's the current situation? I see some drama over at the zoo re: ProAdult owing a bunch of people money, many of them in 5-figures.

SheepGuy 2008-07-06 01:17 AM

They are toast as far as I can figure, and they owe me a lot of money, though not 5 figures. If you count future rebills though it's a fuckova lot more and I'd be surprised if some wm's don't lose 6 figures..
I'm losing more proportionately than I did when AC fucked everyone.
They've even removed their wm forum.

Simon 2008-07-06 07:59 AM

Damn, that really sucks, SheepGuy (and Mike).

You know, I'm wondering if AVN sites are still good risks -- worth putting time into developing and updating -- considering how much $$$ can be lost all at once when a company like AC or PA changes policies, changes hands, or closes down.

Tomas-R 2008-07-06 10:35 AM

bad news..

That's one of the bests descriptions of PA I've ever heard. |headbang|

Welcome to AE

While they certainly have an interesting "Regards Programm" I think I'll pass.

Aaah sure they are, remember when IBill went tits up? Shit happens in all areas of this business. Also, it takes me only slightly more time to build an AVS site than a free site, and the advertising inside is just as profitable.
Moving an AVS site from one company to another is not a big deal time-wise either, though moving 135 of them is taking me some time :(
This whole thing will actually work out to my advantage. PA didn't allow advertising inside their sites as much as the two companies I'm switching their sites over to, NetVerifier and CyberAge, so in a couple of months I'll be back to normal and after that I should be making more money than I was before all of this shit happened.

RedCherry 2008-07-06 03:53 PM

I do VERY well with CyberAge, and a bit less with Net Verifier. I swapped out all my join form for all my sites from PA (which were mirrors of sites on CyberAge) back to CyberAge.

To me, CyberAge really invests a lot of time and money with their models, and content, I don't see them going away any time soon. I'd be |cry| if they did, because I'd say a good 1/3 of my adult income is from my sites with them.

Mike-mijen, I'd suggest either Net Verifier or CyberAge. Net Verifier pays better, but I convert CyberAge better. So it is a toss-up on which does better.

tigermom 2008-07-08 03:45 AM

Sheepguy, where will you be moving them to? I only have 2-3 sites with them, so maybe to Cyberage, where I already have an account. This sucks, I hate having to mess with old sites :(

Fonz 2008-07-08 04:02 AM

Time to move my 1 premium site I have so far to cyberage it seems. :) I had a little network of AVS sites in mind so maybe this development comes right on time.

I'm moving about two thirds to NetVerifier, the rest to CyberAge. I like NetVerifier simply because they pay better and my sites convert a little better with them. RedCherry does better with CA though, and both are good outfits. NV has a deal on for new webmasters though where they give you 100% payouts for the first 60 days so if I didn't have an account there I would get one. It's also a very good idea to mirror your sites with different AVS's.

NY Jester 2008-07-08 06:44 PM

Yeah thats gotta be a real bitch SG (and Mike) - hope you cna get all straightened out. Sucks when you put good faith in a service and they dry hump your ass till you bleed.

Ronzo 2008-07-09 03:31 PM

With tube sites being all the rage, I can't imagine that AVS sites might still do that well.
