Mmorpg's - Anyone else here play them?

Hubby and I have been huge fans since the days of Everquest. Then we moved onto Dark age of camelot, and Star wars galaxies. Most recently of course World of warcraft, although we have never been big fans of wow.

We have been in the Age of conan beta, and the game looks very promising. Artwork and graphics are outstanding. Hopefully the gameplay will be also.

Anyone else play any online games?

HowlingWulf 2008-05-09 12:52 PM

Yes, after I bang out some sites I tend to play some World of Warcraft on realm Area 52. I'm also waiting for the Age of Conan launch.

Age of conan beta, sounds cool, I going to give it a try.

Ditto here, plus having a slow internet connection makes me not even want to try, lol. I got into playing the stand-alone Fable and couldn't stop playing, I have a feeling I'd be addicted fast to any type of online game.

I agree with the "addicted' issue - I almost never watch tv because I find I never get anything done when I do. I got stuck on Roller Coaster Tycoon a few years back and wasted a ton of time on it....

I mostly have The Prophet's Song open in a browser on the background. :)

I always put a block of time during the course of 24 hrs to play games but honestly I havent actually played in weeks. Im jst too busy.

I used to love coming home and unwinding to a few rounds of Doom once upon a time but i haven't played anything specific in ages.

Killing anything that moved after a long day dealing with crap in a boiling hot, non air con office was a great way to unwind and certainly took my mind off the typical office problems i used to get.

Nowadays a few rounds on poker stars is about my lot or half an hour in sl but I may get back into doom or something similar again one day. It's great for relieving stress |thumb

Oh that is the tricky part no doubt hun.

My hubby and I usually play a few hours on saturday and sunday, and we try to get in an hour or so on weekdays. We certainly would like to play more, but as many of you know it can be very addicting and time consuming.

We are the type of players though that just like to explore and slowly make our way through the content enjoying the journey, instead of rushing to end game.|thumb

From time to time I love to play Chess online ,but lately I just have no time at all. Between my part time job , online job and my girl I just don't have time for anything else.
Back in the days I enjoyed Master Of Orion and Civ

Never played any mmorpgs but then again he last video game I played was Infocom's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy back in 1984-85.

I still want one of those "That thing your aunt gave you which you don't know what it is."
(Great place to keep your towel, screwdriver, and no tea)

:D

I jumped on the Age of conan pre order, and will begin playing on Saturday 5/17/08, via the "Three day head start".

Had an absolute blast playing the open beta, and cannot wait to get into this universe. Still a bit odd seeing boobies, and even nipples, hehe. I'm going to play on a RP/PVP server. Hopefully the 12 year olds will avoid the RP servers....we shall see.

If you have a good gaming machine for this game, the visuals are like nothing you have ever seen. But I would recommend at minimum a dual core processor 3.0ghz +, 4gb ram, and at least a 8800 series nvidia card. |thumb

I always play a healer, so most likely I will be a POM. Priest of Mitra. Hubby is going to be a guardian most likely, although he may be a necromancer. He's not sure yet.

I remember playing that game with my buddy - we were in a dark room & we could not figure out what do do next. We kept getting it wrong & then the game told us "4 out of 5 sense-able people know what to do next" We then told the game to "smell" & we were on our way :)

I used to play online MUDs back in the day when I had to dial into the internet. I know how much time I spent on those and as fun as all these new games like everquest and WoW have looked, I know that if I were to play I wouldn't get anything done.

We all have to budget our own time for sure. But I firmly believe that there is more to just "working" in life. I like my play time to. |bananna|

It's just a matter of being mature about it. We're not "party" people, so usually on weekends when a lot of our friends are out doing the normal drinking and partying routine, we game.

You just need to limit yourself, and then stick to it. These days there are a LOT of powergamers. And if you are one of the those people that always have to keep up with them, then yeah your screwed.

We set an exact time limit and stick to it. It really is quite simple. Be strong! |jester|

My first game back in the late 70's was a text based RPG. When I think back about it, it was a LOT of fun!

"You enter a cave .... it is dark, and you hear growling up ahead. There is a fork coming up. L - Left * R - Right"

Left.

A hungry bear makes you his lunch. Game over.

Right.

"You come up to a stirring waterfall falling gracefully at your feet. Luscious red fruit is growing along vines to your right. E - Eat * L - Leave alone"

You get the picture.

Was pretty basic....but SO much fun at the time.

There were actually 8 varieties of Dark in Hitchhiker, depending on where you were in the game. Usually after you "smelled" the Dark you had to 'examine' the shadow and 'eat' the peanuts, or 'say' (my) name, and damn sure better have your towel for what comes next. :D

Hubby just finished building my new computer for work .... and of course play.

Dual nvidia 9800's in sli. Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850. 4 gigs ram. I am SO excited! |bananna|
