(not to mention the design is basically the same as when I did it 6 years ago - LOL) |
Hi Magpie
Got your e-mail - forwarded to me by Haui - will shoot you an answer back :) Quote:

Front Page? Hmmmm....6 years ago......yup, probably! LOL :)
I've graduated to Namo now :D |
Thanks Jeremy :) I think everyone goes through the FrontPage stage, at least for a little while :)
|
When I'm not marketing online adult entertainment I work in the print industry. The same people who use FrontPage try to use Microsoft Publisher for dong print work. |banghead| |raygun|

Holy hell Cleo...I am a print designer as well...and that is some FUNNY shit - bc it true!!
Now InDesign kicks the shit out of any program I have seen for layout...:) |
Yeah InDesign, especially the new CS version, is a really sweet app. Too bad QuarkXPress is still used by so many who don't want to learn anything new. :(
Looks like Quark knows they are in trouble, http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/2004/02/10/aulakh/ Personally I think they are going to die a slow painful death. Jeremy Just use the export as html option and you have one program that does it all. |crazy| |
Oh Cleo....I have gone round and round with a few designers I know who REFUSE to stop using that peice of crap Quark...I swtiched and the week after "lost" my Quark key so as never to make that horrible horrible mistake again...
Believe it or not...if you want a kick as presentation program...Acrobat actually does it all at a fraction of the size. I have made some really nice interactive cd rom interfaces that I have designed in Acrobat... Quote:

The biggest problem down here is printers who do not want to take anything except Quark files.
Most can take PDF files but many designers are so incompetent that they can't produce a decent PDF file for the RIPs. The fact that just about no one bought version 5 of Quark and Quark 6 doesn't save down to version 4 is making me a shit load of money as I'm seeing a ma$$ive upgrade to Mac OS X and Quark 6 so I can't complain. Things should get very interesting in the next year or so as most shops are ending up with InDesgn CS on their drives since it is part of the CS upgrade suite. InDesgn has no copy protection, at least on the Mac version, so many designers are learning to use it rather then pay Quark almost $900 to upgrade to Quark 6 since many can't upgrade their pirated version of Quark 4. |
I pretty much only sub PDF's to the printer...it really the only way to go...but you have to admit, the compenency problem with PDF's goes both ways.
I have dealt with printers (not MY printers...clients who had printers they wanted me to use - which is always a case for releasing me from the quality of the piece) who can't decipher a PDF either... |
I should correct one thing - I was using Front Page Express, which I believe was MS's 1st crack at a WYSIWYG editor (or just a cheaper/free version of the real thing) It was fucking fantastic, but when I upgraded from 95 to 98, it was no longer available - hell, I even called MS & asked where I could get a copy. The new versions of Front Page SUCK ASS!
Namo is very nice :) |
