Attention Torn!

What are your thoughts on your "Boilermakers" and the Big 10 in general this year?

College Football Its getting close dude!

Thank |buddy|

Torn Rose 2008-07-25 10:31 PM

I plead the 5th on that subject.

Torn Rose 2008-07-25 10:40 PM

Actually I was surprised this was a real thread and not Greenies cheap parlor trick that shows everyone else their own name.

I think Ohio State will once again be playing for the National Title but I am not sure the SEC will make it; I personally think the Big 12 will make it this year.

Last I saw, Purdue was projected to go to the Alamo Bowl which means "Big Ten #4 or #5" team which I am ok with since that is where the Joe Tiller era began and it would be nice to win another bowl since it hasn’t happen as much as it should have.

I really just want to beat Notre Dame to shove it in Weis’s face since as he said “Notre Dame will never lose to teams like Purdue while I am here”… except that one time….so far.

We have Comcast here in OR so no Big Ten Network is available here, so we are considering on getting a dish just so we can get our games.

What about you, still think the SEC is in control?

Look for Tennessee to be the surprise team out of the SEC. That being said it's going to be a "fucking blood bath" in the SEC this year.

Look at Georgia’s schedule; they play the 2006 & 2007 National Champs on the road back to back.

Sat, Aug 30 Georgia Southern Athens, Ga.
Sat, Sep 06 Central Michigan Athens, Ga.
Sat, Sep 13 South Carolina * at Columbia, S.C.
Sat, Sep 20 Arizona State at Tempe, Ariz.
Sat, Sep 27 Alabama * Athens, Ga
Sat, Oct 11 Tennessee * Athens, Ga.
Sat, Oct 18 Vanderbilt - Homecoming * Athens, Ga.
Sat, Oct 25 LSU * at Baton Rouge, La. - 2007 National Champs
Sat, Nov 01 Florida * at Jacksonville, Fla. - 2006 National Champs
Sat, Nov 08 Kentucky * at Lexington, Ky.
Sat, Nov 15 Auburn * at Auburn, Ala.
Sat, Nov 29 Georgia Tech Athens, Ga.

Add in Tennessee, Auburn and ASU. . Holy shit!

The real fun comes when Tubberville and Petrino meet and Sabin and Miles square off . . Holy Shit!

PS. I don't like ND so I hope the "Makers" hand them ass on a platter!

bluemoney 2008-07-25 11:22 PM

Oh yeah! I haven't heard "jack shit" out of Steve Spurrier so far . . . That could spell trouble for some SEC East Teams.

Wow, that is a shitty lineup.

This is the first year we play Ohio St and UM as “1 game there, 1 game here” since for the past 10+ years we played both games there every other year and that is asking a lot for anybody but those 2 weeks of Tigers and Gators looks nasty as well.

I think Penn St and Wisc will be tougher than most think, but ILL is a big "?", If UM wins 8 games they will have had a great year. IU is coming back down to earth after the last year, and NW will be NW and MN will win 4 maybe 5 games, Iowa will be around .500 all year and MSU is projected to be tough as well.

Big Ten is a weird place right now, we have so much that can be good and so much that can go bad.

But I think THE Ohio St will go unbeaten vs some team with 1 loss.

USC?

And yeah, I am already sick as shit of the "Mighty" Tim Tebow.... go thump your bibles elsewhere god boy....

Yeah I said that too that as well, not sure why.

But the hype over him is just sickening and while I agree with him as the Heisman winner last year, I doubt highly he will ever win it again, there is just too much talent out there for 1 person to dominate them all game after game.

Cane fan here ... I know, I know ...

I really hope this year is the beginning of a return to national prominence. They have a couple of good young quarterbacks, but apparently coach has decided to split time between them. I really REALLY do not like that idea.

You had me change your username BEFORE this thread was started.

Besides, I only play parlor tricks on Skippy these days.

(who feels even more stupider now!)

Are we down to 35 days? Cannot wait for football season - college or otherwise. Im a Colorado fan myself not that they have a chance in hell for much of anything this year, but its still fun to root! Best is two of my buddies are rivals by alumni.. OSU and UofM always a great weekend gathering for those games!

Think about what it would take for anyone to be the #1 player for 3 years, the odds of that are astronomically high, he would have to be 100% for about 39 games give or take, he has 13 down and has 26 or so to go and make sure you add in how many other kids who are out there playing their best, and think of injuries, schedules, rivalry games etc.

Archie Griffin won it twice, but everything I have read and seen on the subject suggests he wasn’t even the best player one of those years let alone both of those years.

But I have never been a fan on the Heisman, too many times it’s a popularity contest and not based on talent, but of course there are those exceptions.

That’s right... keep digging deeper.....

Ok, the story of how I got "Torn Rose"….

In February 1995 we finally got a new PC that was fast enough to run the game I was just DYING to play, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls:_Arena

(I still have that 120 MHZ)

I wanted a name for my character that would fit into the game like “Conan” but I wanted something more original. I had just bought Toni a dozen long steam roses for Valentine’s Day and they was in a vase on the desk when I saw the thorns on the steams so I thought “Rose Thorn” for a name, but that was too “girly” so I switched it to “Thorn Rose” and fell in love with that name.

3 days later I realized I left the “H” off the name and had wrote “Torn Rose”…. Which I loved even more and took it as my “name”.

When we started working on our site in late 1999 I just started to use it, and for the most part I used just “Torn” but a few places I used “Torn Rose” and just liked it better…

So there.

Licker4U 2008-07-27 06:05 PM

My money is on Auburn. Started a lot of freshmen last year because they were better than the seniors so this year they have some experience. Watch the SEC closely....

For the SEC or for the National Title?

You told me that you were learning how to type without looking and the name you meant to enter was actually "Douche Bag", but once you saw the results, you were happy that you had accidentally typed 2 properly spelled words together.

|huh

The Preseason rankings are out and Georgia is #1 which I am somewhat surprised by so I wanted to ask this question.

*IF* the Georgia Bulldogs go undefeated and play for the National Title with their nasty ass SEC schedule, what will that mean about the SEC in general?

Will that make you think the SEC was weak this year or will that make you think the SEC was strong and since UG beat them all UG is the Super team of the NCAA?

bluemoney 2008-08-02 11:47 PM

Look at it this way.

If (and it’s a big if) UGA goes undefeated that means they will have beaten the last (2) national championship programs back to back on the fucking road!

If they do that! Then they play in Atlanta for the S.E.C Championship against maybe a team like L.S.U again!

I don’t see any team from the S.E.C going undefeated because this conference is just too tuff!

That said, an S.E.C team could win another NC with (2) losses on there schedule just like L.S.U did.
