Video Sharing Site

Hi all
I am lookking to start a video sharing site. What are the pros and cons of doing this?. these sites have been popping up on the net alot lately.. guess I want a peice of the action. Also do you think a server with 30 GB hard drive and 300 GB Bandwith is good to start..

All advise are appreciated
thanks

you better be ready to pay for some bandwidth. other than that I no nothing else about video sites.

Probably not going to get much. Read this thread and you may understand why http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...=video+sharing

To answer your question, it's too broad to be able to answer and depends on your ability and the type of tube site you start.

These days, a lot of programs offer and host 1 or 2 minute FLV clips, which make it easier on your bandwidth.

i think the bandwidth would be the biggest issue, with more than a hundred of tube sites out there - its already a dog eat dog. I wonder how unique are the others to stay on top :). Still, best of luck

Bandwidth is the biggest factor you have to deal with when you go as a video sharing site!

A bit late to start one. the only room I see with this kind of site's is niches or adding value to the vids already out there. By embedding them in content of your own.

I see a lot of tube sites are just embedding other sites content, so no bw usage with that method.

I guess the trick ( as usual ) is to not jump on the wagon thats already out there, but work on new ideas, new concepts for your own niches.

If you site gets over 3000 to 5000 hits in a day and you hosting the videos you going to need a dedicated server.

Good luck to you

Get at least 50 mbits uncapped.

One pro is that your traffic will grow.

The con is you won't be able to convert that traffic.

A seasoned veteran would have the "know how" on converting tube like traffic.

Tube traffic converts great, but it is a real art to it and if you don't know much about it, you will lose a ton of money on BW so I would skip it. It's kind of like opening a paysite before you do anyother porn work like freesites or galleries.

50 uncapped should be anywhere from 700 to 800 fully managed.
