Word Press Problem

I got WP and started on a blog then let it sit for a few months. Now when I go to log in every username and e-mail combination won't work to let me in to the admin. Should I remove WP and re-download?

Is just that you forgot the password? Have you tried clicking the "Lost your password?" link?

If for some reason you can't get your password sent to you, you can always use phpmyadmin, go into the mysql database for this blog, and change the user/pass there. However, backup your database before doing any of that :)

Here's a link for you: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting...ugh_phpMyAdmin

I clicked the "Lost Your Password" link but it asks for a username and e-mail. I've used every combination of usernames and passwords that I might have used. |huh

I figured it out. I remember it was something easy to remember, duuuuh, username was admin and my password I remembered |bananna|

A lot of WP press blogs (and other scripts) get hacked because someone doesn't remove the automatically-created "admin" username account. All that's needed at that point is the password.

Good idea to create a new user with an unusual name and a new password and give admin privileges to that use. Then delete the old admin user. Now only use that new user account for managing the blog. Use another username, with limited privileges, to post on the blog so the new admin name is never revealed in public (for instance as the author of posts).

Have a look in the database for your username and email (this happens to me often :) )

In making that decision, you may weigh the fact that a new version you
download today probably has security fixes that your old version does not.
The Wordpress concept of editing dynamic PHP pages through a web browser
is a security nightmare, so security updates are more frequent and more
important than almost any other type of script.
I guess it depends on how much work you've put into it so far.
