first of all, welcome to GG&Jim. Are you planning on becoming a paysite owner or affiliates? I would suggest you to start blogging.

hotmom73 2008-09-10 01:52 PM

From what I have read, it looks like the best, fastest way to get my foot in the door is to have a free site and use sponsers/affiliates etc...and that is fine initially...I can use one of the other domains I have for that, still don't know what I can do to start that, still reading, but would like to get into the hardcore/fetish end...that is what seems to be more popular...

Am I talking in circles? Sorry, just trying to get this all started.
SOMEONE MENTOR ME........please!!!

haha, thanks!

HowlingWulf 2008-09-10 02:13 PM

Well at least start *something* on your own. Showing up and asking for a mentor isn't going to just work, for every successful webmasters there are probably dozens that aren't and asking for help too. Read some tutorials and decide your plan. short term, long term, search engines, tgps, linklists, etc.

for instance, what do you want stayathomesluts.com to be? paysite? blog? dating site?

since you're just starting I suggest a blog then you can make galleries and freesites that have links back to the blog for traffic/seo while you learn. One blog *might* make you $100/month (not much work after initial setup) that's why many people have networks for 50+ blogs.

if you click on my 'Trade site links' below you'll see I have a lot of domains with just a simple landing page until I get around to developing the site. until I do, they get picked up by search engines as well as some link trade traffic and generate sales here and there.

I wonder if you may be confusing "freesites" with "free sites". This board has it all, but specializes in "freesites" which have a specific format and specific ways of generating traffic. I wonder about the buying 35 domains part, when you're not at all sure what it is you're doing... Are you a webmaster with some mainstream experience? I think it's great that you're willing to invest money in this biz, but it may be wiser to do a lot of reading on boards and learn, because there is quite a learning curve here.

Like HW said, it won't be easy to find a mentor unless you show some "credentials". People are just busy and the rate of people trying their hand in this and then quitting is pretty shocking.

Bill 2008-09-10 04:40 PM

Well, hotmom, it's time to start studying, and doing some experiments.

The cheapest way for you to start doing this will probably be to start building "freesites" - which are small 4 page sites with 24 photos (or 6-8 movies, but with movies you risk a bigger hosting bill, so I suggest photos to start).

This is what a freesite looks like - http://www.2lesbians.net/bedroom-secrets/

This one was built by my wife.

You'll need some basic html and website building skills, and some tools for editing web pages and photos. Do you have those?

Next, you need to study and choose some sponsors. Sponsors are what we call the bigger companies that pay us to send them surfers and sales.

Have you picked out a few sponsors yet?

LeRoy 2008-09-10 04:55 PM

Hi hotmom. 35 domains wow. That's a lot of work to start with.

I know cuz I did the same thing. Thinking I needed a domain for each freesite lol.

Show us some samples of what you're building and you'll get some great advice here.

Bill's example of a freesite is great one to study.

WildChyld 2008-09-10 05:54 PM

I remember when I had 35 domains.
Then my brain exploded and I knocked that down to around 6 ;)

Why not pick the best one and then work up from there?

Set your Saturday afternoons aside. Every Saturday at 3pm eastern, there is a feature called On the Bench with MrMaryLou. It's a great place to learn as MML always has interesting topics and you can get to know a lot of the board members at the chat. Watch General Business Knowledge for announcements and check out this post http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=48898 to find out wtf I'm talking about.

There are little gold nuggets of wisdom all over the place, just have to read and pick them up. As has been mentioned, you just need to decide what you want to do so you don't go off half cocked and shoot yourself in the foot. Since you're a SAHM you're in the perfect position to do porn. There are several ladies here in the same boat as you, although I think several are SAHG (stay at home grandma's). Free sites are a good place to start and there is a good example already posted. There are sponsor links all over the place so find a sponsor that has content you can use and start building sites and submitting them to link lists listed in the Resources area under "get traffic". And cum chit chat in the GG&J chat room. |thumb you get to know people and they get to know you. (I would mentor you but I'm mentally deficient and don't know what mentor means. If mentor is something sexual I'll teach ya what I know:D)

What he said |thumb and stick around.
Good Luck with 35 domains

elKabong 2008-09-10 11:15 PM

I gotta chime in and also ask why 35 domains? |shocking|

It's possible to build an entire web empire on one domain.

I don't mean to critize but you could have taken all that extra money and paid for a good adult host for a year or more.

As other people have said, plan on doing a lot of reading, learning and study. Learning to be an adult webmaster is like taking a college course... it ain't easy and it takes time.

If I can make a suggestion, don't spend any more money on anything until you've spent the time doing your homework. When you're ready, the only other thing you should spend money on next is hosting.

There are a lot of good hosts out there, but you want to stick with an adult host. I personally use phatservers and I'm very happy with them. They have virtual accounts, which are good starter accounts, for as low as $9.95 a month. I'm sure others here can suggest other hosts that are just as good and have similar plans.

Hi guys, thank you all so much for the words of wisdom. The 35 domains, are not all for porn, I have quite a few family sites, for my personal family, a few are for group networking for moms, a few are for parked for future a future mafia project I am working on with a guy from Vegas, etc...
I bought up a few porn domains just because I couldnt believe they weren't taken..haha. I will start with one, and see how that goes.
Thanks again for all the advice.
If the PTA knew what I was doing...they'd fall over dead! I am the President!!

I hope you are using domain privacy or such then. :D Seriously, domain privacy might not be the best idea if you want to go into the freesite game as some will penalize you for it. But i at least hope you are using PO box.

If I were you i would probably start wih a mixture of feesites and blogging. Just to start.

Choose your flagship domain and start submitting freesites from it to Greenguy's link-o-rama and other freesites. On the main page of your domain where you submit these sites, link to the individual freesites you have been submitting. Also throw up a few sponsor banners or text links. This will be a hub.

Also go into blogging. If you feel up to it you can jump in and put wordpress on a few of your other domains, but you might find it easier just to use a blog freehost such as http://www.thumblogger.com which is ran by Twan (sometimes he posts here). As you create blogs, link to your hub and perhaps to your freesite to help build up traffic and search engine rankings.

This is just one plan of action to get you started. You have to start somewhere. One thing you will find in this business is that there is never just one way to do things. :)

Tip- with all those domains and that investment you also probably want to put them to work. It might be a good idea to at least get something on them as soon as you can so that they can begin working for you and at least get indexed by the search engines.

Good luck. :)

Whenever you have specific questions, we'll still be here.

I still suggest studying sponsors is the place to start. Those are the people who mail the checks.

Since you may not want to get involving in buying porn content to use on your pages, you'll want to find a sponsor with plentiful free content that you can use to build with.

I also suggest studying "traffic sources" - those are the bigger sites we get surfers from to look at our little selling freesites and gallerys.

Greenguys's page here http://www.link-o-rama.com/greenguy/mlinks.htm is a goodplace to study a traffic source. You want to click on the links on the right hand column - the new porn links page is a place to start http://www.link-o-rama.com/greenguy/newsites.htm

Studying this will help you see what a small home adult webmaster does to make money - which includes building freesites.

All these people talking about starting with blogging are nuts - it's a terrible place for a beginer to start.

Summary - #1 we'll be here, #2, study sponsors, #3 study traffic sources.

#4 = Study for a while.

Best advice I read yet. Get a good handle on the basic's Bill described first, then try blogging.
