i have 3 new sites:
http://www.live-chat.ro PR3
http://www.live-chat.ro/en PR1
http://www.topadultchat.com PR2
TOP Adult Directory PR 1

Just wanted to tell you all about this :D

digifan 2008-09-27 09:11 AM

No changes here.. then again, I got one site only.

Greenguy 2008-09-27 09:13 AM

That and $1.00 will get you a $1.00 cup of coffee |haha

Gee. Wow. PageRank update. Goodness. I can barely contain my lack of excitement.

I really need to adopt the link trading policies of all those new link list owners who are so good at proving the lack of correlation between Google Page Rank and traffic flow. Even with 50 link trades per page and a PR4 on their index, they still have no traffic. Go figure. I mean that - go think about it.

p3rlphr33k 2008-09-27 12:21 PM

I noticed the update early this morning (around 4 AM central) my new site finally got a rank of 1. Not that it's anything to brag about, but it means I'm making way! very excited.

Oh no. Don't think. It can only hurt the ball club. {insert sarcasm smiley here}

I do need to think about it. How is it possible that the PR dropped on a bunch of pages of my bigger site, yet the daily traffic keeps going up? That makes no sense! We all know that PR is so very important. Right? {insert obviously sarcastic smiley here}

My 100% sponsor fed shitty blogs seem to be doing better...|huh

cd34 2008-09-27 01:19 PM

Rather than using Google PR as an indicator, people running blogs should just look at the number of spam comments received. That is the true indicator of reach.

If your blog receives no spam posts, it is not well positioned enough for the comment spammers to find you. :)

LeRoy 2008-09-27 01:37 PM

I'm getting some spam comments on my blog. So I guess I'm doing something right.

But I lost a ton of PR on my other site that is having "its" best month ever. It went from a PR4 to a PR2. I even made it to the first page of Google in the search term "Best XXX". Which was a short term goal of mine. So I have no idea what algorithm means at this point. |loony|

My PR went up, but I looked in my bank account & the balance is the same as yesterday.

Can someone help me with that?

The way it usually works for me is that my PR goes down, I get ranked better for a few search terms and my bank account goes up.
I hope your higher PR doesn't affect you too badly ;)

A.J. Angel 2008-09-27 02:57 PM

How do you guys know when Google updates the PR?

I'm happy, I got one from PR0 to PR2 and the site is only two months old. :)

p3rlphr33k 2008-09-27 03:45 PM

Threads like this one is usually a good indicator ;) but if your PR changes that would be a way to tell, if it doesn't change than threads are good or just google PR update and you can tell when it happens.

A.J. Angel 2008-09-27 04:03 PM

Do they update the PRs on a regular basis like monthly or do they do it randomly?

p3rlphr33k 2008-09-27 04:18 PM

Google is as Google does. TBPR gets updated quarterly (at lest that' how often mine changes). As mentioned above "realtime" PR is updated on a daily, hourly and most likely by the second basis.
I was at first confused by why my search results would bring up a PR1 page above a PR4/5/6/whatever page but if you think about this logically, the toolbar PR for a page isn't necessarily relevant to the keyword you gave Google to look for. Could be that you searched for "London Mortgage advice" but Google has given your landing page PR based on other factors (inbounds or content being top of G's list).
I disagree that TBPR (Toolbar PR) is irrelevant. It's a "sniff" of what your site's PR really is. If you get a "no PageRank information available" your page is most likely in supplemental, or not in Google's index at all. This is a worrying thing to happen as it's bound to directly affect SERPS for your site.

Okay, thanks! Helps me get a better idea! :)

papagmp 2008-09-28 11:34 AM

What's PR?

And more seriously - who the fuck cares?

I do know that I'm getting more and more of my targeted key phrases on page 1 and that MSM and Yahoo love me more than Google.

Oh, and did I mention, traffic is steadily climbing on almost every site that I have "real" content on so I guess I'll avoid the PR hype this time around and focus on developing more unique content.

xxxjay 2008-09-28 11:27 PM

More importantly, it looks like google picked up a lot of new pages. I haven't even bothered to check my PR since I've been on a Mac

Dude you're going about this all wrong. When your PR goes up, you're supposed to sell hardlinks on the site. That's the real purpose of PR I thought. |loony|

And here I am listing submitted hard links for free |violin|

digifan 2008-09-30 10:07 AM

I don't know what macs and PR have in common.. but if you want to sell a site, the potential buyers ask your PR, Alexa rank, SE ranks, income first etc.

Yes, PR is an indication of the value/quantity of a site's inbound links. That's about it. It's zero indication of traffic quantity and quality. People purchase PR inbounds thinking that those links will bring them traffic by lifting them higher in the SERPs, however, it doesn't do enough. |pokefun| Silly link buyers.
