Plate...

Dont give up... Google is doing some shuffling and some anti spam work at the moment(IMO!)

Bill 2004-02-18 11:06 PM

That is characteristically bad.

You hate seeing that kind of shit, but you do see a lot of it.

About the title tag or the cheaters

thanks

Bill 2004-02-18 11:38 PM

I meant the spammers. I don't know if you can call them cheaters cuz google just seems to love this kind of thing.

Tweaking your title tag is one of the first things you should do if you are not ranking well for your target phrases. can it hurt you? yeah, sometimes.

i just did a little bit of research on this page http://bondage-slut.go4wild.com/

basically it is nothing more than a redirect page with over 82k of links - 873 of them to be exact. each of the links is to another site with a keyword rich subdomain name, all of them probably redirecting to the same fpa.

this is an authority site according to google's new algo. |pissleft| i beg to differ.

plateman 2004-02-19 01:26 AM

thanks eatapeach who knows it could be sponsors stuff i am sure they do it

xxxjay 2004-02-19 08:36 PM

plateman - don't sweat it

winners never cheat - cheaters never win

in a month or two those spam pages will be gone from the serps

Cohiba 2004-02-19 10:02 PM

Hi guys,
I'm following Search Engines section of the board for a long time.
But i don't understand google spam pages. What is a google spam page? Can you please give me an example?
I asked it to you, because i don't want to make a spam page in the future!
Thanks..

DangerDave 2004-02-20 05:13 PM

Cohiba,

"Spam pages" are content-less pages built specifiaclly for google and certain keywords. There are often 1000's or 10,000's of these pages built and linked together to trap as many keywords as possible. Then once spidered and listed, the owner often redirects all page straight to a sponsor..

Thank you very much for this information Dave.

While over my friends house I was trying to explain 'free sites' to him and went to greenguys linkorama site.

When I went to click on any listing he nearly slapped the mouse out of my hand saying "NO...I'll have all sorts of shit on my computer from those sites!".

I wonder how many people avoid web porn due to early experiences of multiple pop-up of chromless windows full screen, redirections, and even scumware.

Didn't matter how much I explained to him that some quality link lists are very strict he wanted me to avoid bringing up any porn site on his system.

Even while signig up with a sponsor and previewing a site I got hit with 3 pop-under's. |angry|

That just messes it up for the industry as a whole- in my newbie opinion.

plateman 2004-02-20 10:17 PM

Alphawolf

you hit the nail right on the head, the cheaters made google screw up there shit to fight off the cheaters

the cheaters made porn surfers not want to surf porn because of all the bad stuff they heard

the cheaters are going to ruin this biz amd i think that there is going to be a lot of people get out of this biz because they cant make money any more

ChristyB 2004-02-21 01:11 AM

I'm sure DD is right about the future; keep it spam free and keep building quality stuff... much of google aim during their recent turmoil must have been to identify spam, cloaking & redirecting and they are sure to get better at it as time goes by - like xxx jay said - it will not be there forever.

I agree with Alphawolf & Plateman too - there are cheaters in every industry but the adult industry (like the drug industry) attracts the worst of them, always has (on the basis that nobody wants to admit they were cheated when trying to buy porn or drugs) - but things are happening to tip the scales (pop-up blockers and better se algos) they will make it less profitable and the scumbags will move on to easier pastures...

And best of all remember - for every surfer who thinks like Alphas friend, there are a few hundred thousand people turning 18 every day and hooking up to the web :)

Sounds like you have the wrong attitude. No matter whether you cheat or not, search engines will always shift around your listings. No listing or position is ever permanent.

Plateman,
Time really is a great serps healer. :)

Cohiba,
That's my car!!! ;)

grzepa 2004-03-05 02:58 PM

@plateman: you should report these go4wild spammers to google!

also, like DD said I think google will do some work to cut the spammers having #1 where they dont belong...
