49 State AGs back parents supervising internet

Say WHAT!!! And it's not April 1rst!!!

This has got to a real kick in the ass for the pro-censorship folks. It almost seems like the government is starting to get the ideal.|whisper|

Study: Parents Should Protect Kids Online, Not Technology
A new study backed by 49 state attorneys general said that responsibility for protecting children online lies with parents and mentors, and not in the hands of agencies that develop age-verification technology.

Of course they did. The answer was to obvious so they wanted to make sure it was the correct answer.

I wonder which state didn't go along with this? Prolly Texas, our Gov. is a jackass just like Bush.

You have to laugh at the Connecticut AG who refuses to believe the results of the study and instead has opted to continue believing the myth:

“Children are solicited every day online,” Mr. Blumenthal said. “Some fall prey, and the results are tragic. That harsh reality defies the statistical academic research underlying the report.”

Don't let facts get in the way of a good bout of hysteria.

grandmascrotum:

Maybe they should pass this along to those politicians down under.

Also it seems that the British after banning Wikipedia, now seem to have banned the Wayback Machine.

Senator Conroy refuses to listen to anything as trivial as facts, surveys or independent research by people who know what they're talking about. He's too busy "thinking of the children!!!" The trial is going ahead no matter what anyone says against it.

That's funny...are we sure we don't want the gov't to be responsible for this? I mean come on, look at how well the Safe Ports Act did for all of us online gambling junkies...it totally saved us all from ourselves since we can't decide whether or not online gambling is good for us: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAFE_Port_Act
