Supreme Court kills COPA
Another piece falls.
And of course: "The court also said that parental use of Internet filters was a better, less restrictive way to protect children from explicit material. ". The U.S. Supreme Court refused Wednesday to give the Justice Department a final chance to salvage a decade-old federal law designed to keep children from viewing sexually explicit material on the Internet. http://www.easybourse.com/bourse-act...nternet-600951 |
Great news, this also sounds like a good argument against approving .xxx

Excellent news. It already feels like fresh air is blowing away the corrupt stench of Bushian evil.
Tickler, you get the official Bill's Award for Legal Eagle. That and 5 bucks oughta get you a nice cup of coffee. |
I think that was a Clinton era bill.|whisper|

One of the things I do for them is to check out new laws/regs to see what programming/systems changes are required. Unfortunately it also means they have about 10 staff lawyers that have to run to Washington or where ever all the time to bang heads together when legislatures bring out conflicting rules.|banghead| |
Clinton was just another republican of the last decades of republican rule. ;-}
--- And it still feels that way - like the foul mists clearing in mordor or something. Wasn't there something about the new 2257 being frozen, or did I dream that? |
Wow. This has been hanging out there for a LOOONG time. I remember how many people flipped out when it first went through. Everyone said the adult internet was coming to an end. The credit card guys and AVS's were excited as hell though.
Then 10 years of all kinds of other drama. Stricter credit card regulations, Crescent publishing scandal, 2257, and everything else. It's evolution, baby. |
I like this...thanks for the heads up

It's about time!

Really great to hear, finally a step in the right direction.

10 years that piece of crap has been going on. Good riddance and hopefully with Bush out of office, we wont see ridiculous new legal bullshit.
