Damn It's Friday Already

Guess who didn't realize the week was almost over. I was sure it was Thursday today |crazy|

Now have even more on my plate as if it wasn't already loaded to begin with! I think a few coffee's are in order followed by a day of catch up.

I may head up to the local college today to get more information about their 4 year degree programs since I'm beginning to realize that I'll eventually need to begin some sort of career and prefer that it doesn't involve a shovel or wearing steel toe boots. My wife told me that I'm having a mid-life crisis though she agrees that it's an excellent idea. It occurred to me that I have a daughter who will be starting college in just over four years, then a son who will follow her four years later. They are both very bright and I don't want them to start off in the hole, not being able to go at all, or suffering the same fate as their father; sitting here wondering why I stopped after getting an associates degree in the highly lucrative field of Liberal Arts. |banghead| Not to mention, the concept of retiring some day really appeals to me.

My biggest problem is that at 38 years-old nothing really stands out as THE career or field of study for me. I've jabbered about teaching for years, and that does have a modicum of appeal to me, but I wouldn't say that I'm jumping for joy at the prospect of it. Also, it's far easier to get a teaching job in math or science, but those are two areas that I wish to avoid.

Who ever says that you'll know what you want to do when you grow up is full of shit.

Oh, good morning. |waves|

Good Morning.

Body is aching today after back to back basketball nights. Coffee please and a big work load today and this weekend.

Good Morning and Happy Friday Everyone!

Cleo 2009-01-23 09:41 AM

Got woken up in the middle of the night when one of my cats decided she was fascinated by the tube coming out of me and that it would be fun to play with.

No plans for today other then working.

That's for sure! I'm 48 and I've been an accountant, stay-at-home Dad and web designer/programmer (so far). Whatever you decide, don't just go for the money. (Of course, I can say that because my wife makes most of the money in our house.) Make sure you really love what you're doing.

I am feeling good about my new site, knowing of course that building it is 1% of the effort. Well, I've done my work for the day and I am now on to do a boat load of family stuff.

Have a great day everyone!

That's the same situation in my house. My wife has been making a lot more than me for many, many years. And being that the reason I work from is primarily due to my inability to be remain happy at any of my previous jobs, it's pretty important to find something that I'm certain to enjoy. (which doesn't seem likely :))

Good Friday Peoples |buddy|
I'm a bit late today as I had my yearly Eurology appt - nothing like a strange man squeezing your nuts & telling you to come back next year |thumb

My financial guy is on his way over today. Aside from some year end crap & why my IRA dropped 25%, I need to see if I have any spare cash laying around to pay off interest incurring debts |banghead|

Useless: the world needs ditch diggers too, ya know|goodnight But I will say that I've always wanted to go back & get a degree, maybe in something silly like website design :D

MILF inspector? |huh

Seriously, go take some classes & maybe you'll remember a subject that you really enjoy and can lead to a nice well paying job sometime in the future.

I think I'm going to have 2 kids sick at home instead of just 1 today. :( So I'll be playing nurse and trying to get some work done.

|yawn| Morning..
I took most of yesterday off.. my eyes have really been bothering me lately and I'm being forced to schedule a Dr. appointment. I'm not sure if it is stress related because I had to continue a project that should have been passed off to someone who 1) never took authorship of it 2) doesn't really comprehend the elements 3) would rather smoke |potleaf| and |drunk| than pay attention to making $$. Either way I'm stuck with it and using my eye issues as to not working on it.

Anyway.. Go back to school, UW..even just 1 class in oh say pottery will get you back in the swing of going to school. It's never too late. |thumb

I have to drag the RugDawg to breakfast this morning. We'll be raising a cuppa cocoa in honor of MML.

Have a good one..make some $$$

LeRoy 2009-01-23 11:32 AM

Good morning everyone. I got the job at DTI Cash :) The background check passed and the interview went well. I'm Starting next week as the affiliate manager.

UW you hit the nail on the head. I'll be 38 this next month too. I had so many aspirations to become something. I went to school to become a firefighter. My mother a Nurse Practitioner and my father a cop. They raised me in a good area and not the ghetto. Looking back it was a bad decision to quit school and start my own biz. I will make sure my daughter doesn't make the same mistake I did.

Some of my teachers told me I had this omnious air around me and they were surprised I used it the way I did.

Now look at me. I'm really praying that this new job works out well. It's the best thing that happened to me in years. The company is pretty big and the benefits are really good. They match 100% 401k and the starting salary isn't bad either. The bad thing is we'll be moving to LA from OC. My wife put in a transfer to work in the Downtown LA office for the state. So the wheels are in motion but the thought of living in LA scares the death out of me.

Whew I got that off my chest :)

BTW All of my projects will remain alive and I will continue to work on them everyday. Hopefully some day they will come to fruition |thumb

Gentlemen, congrats to both of you on the big changes. |thumb

I started my second career 10½ years ago at the age of 38. There were more than a few bumps along the way but I am much happier now.

ArtWilliams 2009-01-23 11:42 AM

I like making porn sites. I am just not very successful at it or I just give up too easily.

|lol| Sorry, I've got teenage kids. It's been years since I've been able to tell them anything.

Much luck to you in the new position.

Morning!

Glad to hear there are new jobs, people wanting to go back to school etc |thumb

I've been struggling lately to just get back into my normal routine I always had. Its hard once you step away from it for a bit to get it back. This weekend my MAIN GOAL is to find a way to manage to be productive online again. Wish me luck!

Have a nice day and weekend all |thumb

Nothing like waking up with a migraine! |banghead|

Seriously, this shit sucks, I'm even nauseous which is always fun first thing on a Friday. What few plans I had today I think will either not happen, or happen much later then planned.
