NATS 4

I'm doing this in my head |banghead|

I like to think I know my way around a stats admin, but I think the lovely people over at NATS have lost their fucking minds. There are actually so many bells & whistles in this new admin that I have NO FUCKING IDEA HOW TO FIND THE STATS I USED TO LOOK AT IN NATS 3!!!!! |angry|

I'm one of the people that actually liked the old NATS admins. And I think they added the one thing I thought was missing, which is looking at multiple, but not all, program totals.

Remember the 1st time you saw all the stuff in the CCBill admin? This is MUCH worse.

Maybe I'm just being one of those douchebags that is scared by new things, but a fucking FAQ or Help page on how this shit works might be a useful thing to add to the TOO MANY things already jammed into the admin.

Me too actually, unless the sponsor tried to get fancy with it and fucked everything up.

I haven't seen the NATS 4 stats yet, you've got me worried because some of my favorite sponsors use NATS.

If this glitch that I found was intentional, I'm gonna fucking bite someone on the face.

In this thread I explained to everyone how I do my stats, and I think a lot of you at least tried it.

I'm doing another stats run & this is a pretty big step:

I find it easiest to copy & paste the table of results into a blank html file & edit the table by hand (I use Namo's WYSIWYG editor, but you can probably use any html editor or a blank xls sheet) I clean up the table/cells/rows so that there's no background colors, make the fonts all default & unlink everything. Then I delete the rows/columns that I don't need so that I'm down to 4: site, clicks, sales, money...

It seems that with NATS 4, you can't do this, as the stats are not in a table (looks like a div command?) So every time you try to copy & paste anything, you get this:

That's EXACTLY how it looks if I try to copy it from IE7 or Chrome and paste it into Namo or Excel.

What would be handy is an "export" link that would spit out the stats for me into an html table or a csv/xls file or one of those silly file types that people actually use to compile data in.

I think I'm gonna have to go bug them myself.

Isn't tableless CSS design fucking wonderful. :(

My only hope is that people that move to nats 4 just stick with the default. Just put your logo in the upper left or something... maybe mess with colors, etc. Just don't get too creative with the layout.

While I will admit it comes across at first as a pain... Being able to see who signs up and from where is pretty cool. Knowing that people that actually buy memberships are from US, EU... or just US... and people from EU only do trials. You can then target your traffic to put up links for maybe PPS for EU traffic and earn the $30 on it so as to max money per click.

Now how equipped am I to do that right now... Not one bit. I'm just happy though that it can go there and squeeze every last penny out if I want to put in the time.

Bright side? |virgohippy|

This all being said I too have yet to figure out how to bring up reports I care about. I'm hoping it's just cause I'm a noob to the new interface and with a little time I'll be dialed to it.

They have some documentation for affiliates using the system on their wiki.

one thing I just learned from the wiki that's cool is auto campaigns.

easy thing to create linking structure on pages that send the traffic to see exactly what page your sale/hits are coming from.

|angry| THE TWO PROGRAMS I'VE SEEN ARE USING THE DEFAULT SETTINGS :D

I just sent NATS an email, seeing as the website was not much help either (looks to be all info for the owners & not the users)

PS - Best admin EVER? UltraCash circa 1997

Update - I'm sending a 2nd email to John Albright & Charles Berrebbi who are listed on the TooMuchMedia.com website.

Are you still using office 2003/xp or have you upgraded to 2007?
Far as I know 2007 with it's built in xml support and all handles divs fine.
Try pasting the stats in word, and if it looks ok copying from word into excel

Actually, bDok figured out a solution for me |bow| (insert smiley with flat brimmed baseball hat here)

He put a little Text To Table converter online. It doesn't work for me (I'm browsing with Chrome these days & I know it copies things a lot differently) But Namo (my web editor) also has a Text To Table option & it works perfectly!

I asked him to post the coding here so that others can take advantage of this if you do not have a Text to Table converter in your programs.

So thanks again to bDok!

bDok 2009-01-30 05:12 PM

code...

If when you copy everything from nats 4 it gets it's own line this helps make it into a table.

You just enter the amount of columns there are and then in the text area paste what you copied from nats 4. maybe it will help you.

disclaimer: i wrote this in 10 minutes. it's a hack. I make no claims that this code rox or is sexy in anyway, I'm not sure if it's even secure. Here it is for what it is. |cheers|

edit: copy n paste the code into a file called mootime.php or you are going to have to edit the action on the form to whatever you name the .php file.

Code:

moo

$numofcols = $_POST['colnumber'];

$text = explode("\n", $_POST['bahbah']);

$currentcol = "1";

?>

                        if ($currentcol == "1") { echo ""; }
                        echo "";
                        $currentcol++;
                        if ($currentcol > $numofcols) { echo ""; $currentcol = "1"; }
                }
?>

$line

Enter number of columns:

I'm amazed that they don't offer some kind of delimited format like csv, xml, etc. It's a STATS program for christ's sake!

Thanks for that but ask Sparky...it was a nightmare :) If it was built properly, it would have been great.
