Moving Hosts - Don't blacklist me :)

In July my host messed up & my sites all went offline for 3 hours & 15 minutes (early one Sunday morning)!

Within 2 days we lost all our links with one linklist & one avs company & the linklist (who shall remain nameless) has never added the link back (despite we mailed & explained & resubmitted as we were invited to do)...

Since that 3 hour downtime I have tried to reach my host by email (8 times) & left 2 messages on the ansafone which I get when I ring his 'emergency support number'... I love to ring Canada from the UK to speak to an ansafone |pissed|

I even mailed him via his new content company & another customer of his - but I haven't had a single response!

So - we're moving to a new host...

I set everything up correctly & registered the new dns details yesterday & right now the domain is unreachable!

I'm told it's because the dns is propogating & it will fluctuate for the next few days until it's finished...

(So if you are trading links with apassion4porn.com please be patient, it will be ok within a day or two...)

The thing is - when I move the domain with all the free sites on it (angel4christyb.com) - if this happens again - I'm going to run the risk of getting links dropped from a lot more link lists (maybe even blacklisted if somebody is a little over-zealous)...

Is there any way I can prevent this 'unreachable period' or is it inevitable when moving hosts?

Hi Christy - good luck with your move, hope it all went smoothly - as for your question - check out newsletter #60 from this forum, there is a solution to that problen using htaccess - worth bearing in mind for the future.

Cheers, Paul :)

... and turn your icq on now and again :D

Thanks vapser - Maybe we had the same (ex) host - lol

Hi Paul - it all went ok in the end.
Funny - the newletter turned up just after the problem was fixed |jester|
I can access my nameserver anyway, the problem which caused the short downtime was an 'unusual error with the dns processing' at the new host!
(Off to a flying start - lol)...

It was fixed after a few hours & everything is looking good :)

Now that's out of the way I can turn the icq back on & see if we can get that ad rotator working again :)
